Two years later:

"Sweetie, don't do that." I pulled Darcy away from putting her stuffed unicorn in the toilet.

She giggled and tried to do it again. I groaned and picked her up. "Wait till your father hears about this young lady."

Shawn had his performance in Toronto tonight and I was getting Darcy and myself ready in our shared apartment. We officially moved in together last year after he leased the place. It had a breathtaking view of the city.

I hadn't seen Shawn in a month and I missed him terribly. He'd left for the North American leg of his Shawn Mendes The Tour world tour back in June with our good friend, Alessia. He was gone up until Darcy's second birthday and had left after her party.

This was going to be Darcy's official first concert. I had her all decked out in Shawn's merch. She had no idea what was going on except that daddy was going to be singing for her tonight.

After finishing putting on my lipstick in the bathroom mirror, I carried my daughter out and over to the sofa. She sat there and played with her unicorn while I shoved our stuff into my diaper bag. She wasn't potty trained yet, having just recently turned 2, but I planned to start working with her within the next 6 months or so.

Glancing at the clock, I realized we had to get moving if we were to miss all the traffic. I called for Darcy and she came waddling over to me with a big smile on her face.

"Mommy, we see Daddy?" She cooed.

"Yes baby, we're going to go see Daddy right now." I reached out my hand and she took it.

"Yay!! I happy!"

"Me too kiddo." Me too.

We walked out to my car and I strapped her into her car seat. The Rogers Centre wasn't extremely far from where Shawn and I lived which was really nice.

The arena loomed into view and for some reason, I started getting butterflies in my stomach.

"See that big building Darcy? Daddy is in there."

She nodded her head and looked out the window.

I could see the fans lining up outside. It was only 15 minutes before the doors opened. A security guard was standing by the back entrance and I handed him my ID and all access pass. He let us through and I parked my car next to the buses.

Darcy clapped her hands and giggled. "Daddy Daddy Daddy!!"

I unbuckled her and carried her to the door. Jake gave me a big hug and waved at an intimidated Darcy. She hid her face in my neck and I chuckled.

"Shawn will be in his dressing room."

"Thank you Jake." I smiled and carried Darcy inside.

Not much had changed since the last time I was here, which was a few weeks after Darcy was born.

Vivian came charging towards me with arms outstretched. "You're here!!!"

"Hi Viv! I missed you!" I put my daughter down and we embraced.

"How've you been?" She bent down, "And how has my little god-daughter been?"

Darcy smiled shyly and hid behind me. I took her hand and Vivian chatted while we walked to where Shawn was. The second our voices got within earshot of him, the dressing room door practically flew off its hinges and he came sprinting towards us.

I squealed and pointed at him, "Look baby, it's daddy!"

He picked Darcy up and spun her around. "I missed you baby girl."
