"You tap your animal with your wand three times sharply, and then you say the words 'vera verto'." Professor McGonagall explained. "If you do it right, you will find yourself with a water goblet on your desk."
"And if not?" Hoseok asked.
Professor McGonagall walked around the classroom and eyed Taehyung, who was furiously waving his wand around – not tapping Kkanji, who he had in front of him – while mumbling the spell over and over again.
Then POOF!
Kkanji did transform.
"Then...that might happen." McGonagall answered Hoseok's question, waving her hand in the direction of Kkanji, who was now turned into a furry red cauldron.
Even though the professor held a disappointed look on her face, Taehyung had a huge grin on his face. "I'm getting better!!"
Namjoon, who sat next to him, slammed his palm against his forehead. He shook his head and sighed, looking at Taehyung's transformed cat. "You call that better? You were waving your wand around like you were directing a choir!"
"Most of all, your cat is a furry cauldron. Not a water goblet." Jungkook chuckled from behind them.
"I keep asking myself how you became amazing at Potions but still transform things into something like...like that." Hoseok said, eyeing the cauldron – which seemed to still have a tail? – and giggling when he heard it mew.
"Maybe I'll never be good at Transfiguration..." Taehyung mumbled, though he didn't seem all too worried about it.
Meanwhile, Jimin just gave him a smile and told him he would be fine.
A few minutes later and almost everyone had turned their animals into water goblets. Taehyung had turned Kkanji back into a cat – he liked it better that way – and hadn't tried it again, completely distracted by all the fun stories his companion started telling him.
"Alright, class. That's it for today. Tomorrow we'll try again, but then without saying the 'one, two, three' out loud. You can practice after school for homework." McGonagall said, before dismissing the students to lunch.
The five second-years were chatting and laughing as they made their way to the Great Hall. They found Namjoon and Yoongi at the Gryffindor table and joined them.
"Yoo, how was Transfiguration?" Jin asked, ruffling his brother's hair as soon as he sat down. Jungkook grunted and pushed his arm away.
"It was good. Taehyung turned Kkanji into a tailed cauldron."
"Must everyone know?" Taehyung sighed, earning a smirk from Jungkook, who liked to tease his friends.
"Guys, do you know what I heard?" Yoongi interrupted. All six heads turned to him curiously. "There was an outbreak of Acromantulae in Wigtown last night."
"WHAT!?!" Hoseok screamed, vividly imagining hundreds of enormous spiders roaming through the streets.
Jin shrieked as well, face paling. He threw his hands up, smacking Namjoon and Jimin in the face in the process. He shuddered, shaking his head. "No way, man. You can't just start lunch by telling us that!"
Yoongi shrugged, already starting on a piece of bread. "Thought you'd wanna know."
"Shouldn't there be a closer watch on those magical creatures?" Jimin asked, rubbing his painful cheek.
"After that Zouwu attack you'd think so, wouldn't you?" Hoseok said, thinking back to that day in Hogsmeade about a week ago.
"Has anything like this ever happened before?" Jungkook asked.
