Chapter 13
Jagger
Misunderstood Mistakes

I stared at my phone with wide eyes and a frown that felt like it could plant itself in my face for days.

What the hell had I done last night?

“Knock, knock,” I heard Cooper call before pushing through the curtain blocking entrance to the back of the bus.

I was lying in my bunk with a killer of a hangover. The dimmed lighting of the bunks suddenly seemed as bright as the sun and the pounding in my head was starting to annoy me. I shielded my eyes with a throw of the arm as I watched Coop walk in. His mouth was set in a grim line and his eyes were stone.

I cleared my throat before starting. “Would you mind explaining to me what happened to me last night?”

For the first time in the entire twelve something years that I’ve known Cooper Tally, he rolled his eyes at me. They actually reached the top of his head. I was almost slack-jawed at the sight before me. He never did anything unprofessional, especially something childish like rolling his eyes at someone.

“You really don’t remember anything?” he scoffed, rubbing the bridge of his nose with two fingers.

I merely shook my head in response. While I waited for him to continue, I searched the crevices of my bunk with my hand, looking for the bottle of aspirin I kept around the confinements.

“Look at me, Jagger,” he said, his tone serious.

I eyed him with wary eyes. “What did I do?” I noticed that my voice almost sounded child-like. My heartbeat rose massively at the thought of what I must have done to have Cooper so mad at me and my girl break up with me out of nowhere.

“She found you last night…” he continued, giving me a look that I supposed to read into.

My eyes would have fallen out of their sockets if it was at all possible. I swallowed loudly and shook my head. “No she didn’t.”

He only nodded. “She did. You were drunk and she was bringing you to your car. Carson and I found you before she drove off. You were passed out on the concrete when I finally came up to you.”

“No. No, no, no. So I’m guessing the press…” I faltered, running my hands roughly through my disheveled hair. The anxiety heightening in my veins could have been compared to Matty almost. And I never felt this bad before.

“They ate it right up. Mostly due to the fact that she tweeted about your new found ‘relationship’ last night after we took you off of her.”

“Crap,” I seethed, shaking my head in disbelief again. This had to be why Ella had dumped me. The only girl I cared most about had left me on my own. All because of some stupid bitch from my past that I couldn’t seem to escape from. “Did we do…anything?” I gulped.

“It didn’t look like it to me,” he sighed heavily. “You were practically falling on your face when we found you. She just seemed to have you eating out of the palm of her hand.”

“Cooper, I…” I stuttered.

I couldn’t seem to wrap my brain around what had happened. Ella had actually told me off and left me to my own devices. Caley had somehow found her way back to me once again, no matter how many times I’ve told her that we were over. I hadn’t even spoken to her since she last cheated on me with some dude she met at a modeling agency three years ago.

“I’m not going through this again with you, Jagger. This all needs to stop, right this instant. Do you understand me?”

“God, do you know how much you sound like my father right now?” I scoffed, my eyes still trained on my lap, running my hands through my hair time and time again.
