It felt like dawn when I woke up from sleep. I was a little confused as to where I was and then I remembered that we were in the caves. I reached out to find JK's wolf and was met with his blue eyes.
"You alright JK?"
He nodded with a huffed. I could sense his frustration because he could not change back into his human form. I could hear his stomach growling and I was starting to feel a little hungry myself too.
"You must be hungry. How about we go find something to eat?" I asked him. He got up, stretched and sniffed the air. "You don't think they are still following us are you?"
Jungkook just stared at me and I took it as a no.
Something caught his attention and he bolted out of the cave so fast that I stumbled a few steps back. He came back a few minutes later with a couple of rabbits in his jaws. He dropped the dead rabbits in front of me. I curled my nose and took the dead rabbit from him.
"Umm ...thanks?"
He made a sound akin to snickering. I rolled my eyes at him.
I didn't know what to do with the rabbits and just flung one of it onto the fire, hoping that it would char the fur and cook the meat at the same time. Jungkook at the rest of the rabbits raw. One of the perks of being a wolf, I guess.
We sought shelter in the cave for days, only coming out at night so we were undetected. Jungkook was still in wolf form and that worried me. I tried having conversations with him as though he was human to keep his humanity in check. It seemed to be working though there were instances where I could sense the wild beast within him was slowly taking over.
It was the night of the new moon when I felt the tingles starting again on my fingers. I looked outside the cave and couldn't see anything. I put the tingles down to it being the new moon and my powers were "recharging". Jungkook stirred from his slumber and opened his eyes to look at me. I gave him a shrug and continued to look outside.
We heard a branch breaking close by and Jungkook was on his feet and in front of me within a breath. I was startled by his action I stumbled backwards and landed on my butt. I tried to say something but his tail was flicking sideways and his ears were perked up. He growled softly as sensed someone or something coming towards us. Jungkook used his body to move me back deeper into the cave. It was then I saw the reason why.
Yoona and her pack were moving closer towards us.
"We have to get out of here, JK," I whispered, knowing that she could hear us with their wolf ears.
"Found you," we heard Yoona's sing-song voice as she appeared at the mouth of the cave. She was flanked by two wolves on each side.
Jungkook showed his teeth and snarled.
"I see that you have managed to break the spell, Jungkook. Your Omega is more powerful than I thought but I am not going to make that same mistake twice."
Yoona held out her hand and muttered something under her breath. I placed my hand on his side to let him know that I will try to protect him as much as I can. His wolf started whining. I could see that he was fighting hard with whatever spell Yoona is using on him. Jungkook started to pant harder. Panic started to sink in that we may not get out of this alive.
"You are starting to piss me off Yoona," I said loudly, trying to hide my panic. I could feel the Earth humming on the soles of my feet, a sign that usually means that she was mourning the death of her children. I mustered up whatever courage I can find to stop Yoona from hurting Jungkook further. None of us was going to die tonight.
