Namjoon kept vigil beside my bed. He wouldn't leave my side, not even for meals. Gran and his brothers took turns bringing him food.
"How is she today?" Yoongi asked as he stepped into the room with a tray of soup Gran made.
"Still the same," he replied rubbing his eyes. "What time is it?"
"Just a little after 12 noon," Yoongi replied as he placed the tray on the table next to him. "Eat something. Gran said it would make you feel better."
"I am not hungry."
"You have to eat something, Joon. The Omega would not be happy if she wakes up to find you thin and frail."
Namjoon laughed and nodded his head.
Yoongi went to the windows to draw the curtains apart and opened the windows. It was Spring and the warm breeze filled the room. Namjoon leaned back and breathed in the fresh air.
It had been months since my attempt to rescue Jungkook. I lost consciousness during my showdown with Hwasa, again. I felt like I was no match for her and that she was determined to have me killed.
"She should have let me kill her," Namjoon said, his voice cracking.
"Joon, you know that is not what the Omega wants."
"She will not stop until the Omega is dead, Yoongi. Hwasa must be stopped."
Yoongi placed his hands on Namjoon's shoulder.
"I have a feeling, Hwasa is not yours to kill, Joon."
"Watch me try," he said menacingly. Yoongi bowed his head low at his Alpha's command.
"She has tried twice to kill my mate and I will not stop until she dies," Namjoon continues.
Yoongi kept quiet. He knew once Namjoon was absolute about something, there is no turning back.
"If it wasn't for JK's wolf, we would all be dead," Yoongi reminded his leader.
"If it wasn't for the Omega's spell to give life to JK, we would all be dead," Namjoon corrected his second. "She will not escape again the next time."
Yoongi kept his head low.
Sighing out loudly. "How are you feeling?" he asked, his voice gentle this time.
"Feeling?" Yoongi pretended he didn't know what Namjoon was asking about.
"Look, I know we don't talk about our feelings much but, know that even though I am your Alpha, I am your brother and friend first."
Yoongi looked at his hands. "Minako is gone. I have to live with that. Although we have not seen each other for centuries, I was always happy with the knowledge that she is alive, living happily somewhere but now, she is gone."
Namjoon reached out to his brother. Yoongi accepted the touch of comfort from his Alpha.
"At least I know she didn't die in vain. She died trying to save the Omega and JK and for that, I am eternally grateful."
**********
The sun was shining brightly in the meadow. The warm summer breeze gently blew on my face. I was sitting leaning against one of the stones reading Rebecca for the hundredth time. This was nice. I knew I was finally safe.
I heard footsteps coming towards me.
"Hi, mum," I said not looking up from my book.
I felt her sitting next to me.
"My child. Why are you still here?"
"I like it here. It's safe."
