Lani Pierce
My eyes slowly flutter open and I feel like I've been hit in the head with a ton of bricks. A leather cushioned surface is beneath me and I frown slightly trying to gain back my sight.
"Lijah ?" I call out, my eyes narrowed in confusion. Panic begins to rise in me as I realise I'm in the backseat of a car I don't recongnize. I immediately sit up, wincing slightly as a sharp pain shoots up my spine at the sudden movement. My eyes widen slightly as I realise my skirt has risen up exposing my legs and a bit of my underwear. The first thing that comes to my mind ?
I've been kidnapped.
"Lijah this isn't funny." I call out again. I'm completely alone and notice all the windows are tinted black, preventing me from seeing my surroundings. I reach over and attempt to open the door.
It doesn't budge. I'm seriously planning on breaking this door. Then again, I don't want to upset my kidnapper. For all I know they could be outside the car at this exact moment.
"Dude stop playing around." I'm all alone. Locked inside a car. I can't remember how I got here. I can't remember anything. I interlace my fingers and place them on my knees waiting for a miracle to happen. Here goes nothing.
"Dear God, I know I haven't prayed to you since I was five years old, bu-"
"Are you praying ?" A voice asks in disbelief as I hear the car opening from the outside. I immediately open my eyes.
Jace Prosper.
He's leaning against the door with his arms crossed over his chest, looking directly at me, blue eyes shining with humour.
"You're my kidnapper," I ask slowly, "now I really wish I broke the door."
"Really now ?"
"Stay away from me." I warn seriously. Jace grows silent, the corners of his mouth twitching slightly. Seconds pass before he bursts into laughter and I stare confused.
"Ok, you're seriously crazy." I mutter, using the back of my hand to wipe across my forehead. Jace's laughter slowly dies down, strands of his damp hair falling over into his face. I then have this sudden urge to brush it away. So I sit on my hands.
He looks at me, blue eyes shining with humour, a small smile gracing his face highlighting his dimple. He continues smiling as he leans down, using the car top for support. The champagne looking specks in his blue eyes twinkle slightly, sending me into a state of awe.
I feel myself staring back, entrapped by his beauty. Moments of silence pass and I notice him staring at me with adoration. I drop my gaze to the floor, my cheeks heating up in embarrassment.
"I didn't kidnap you, Lani." He whispers breaking the silence. He leans in further, sliding into the space beside me, closing the door behind him with a soft click. My eyes widen slightly as I notice that he locked us both in the car.......together......alone."Uhm, J-Jace ?" I stutter because he's insanely close to me right now.
"Yeah ?"
As he turns to look at me, he frowns slightly. I squirm underneath the intensity of his gaze. Without warning, he leans over, his hand inching closer to my face. I suck in a breath, frozen in place as his scent wraps around me. He shuffles closer, as he undoes my ponytail, my hair falling softly in waves on my shoulder.
"Here," he whispers handing me my hair tie.
I reach over to take it from his grasp.
"What happened ?" I ask. When he doesn't respond, I glance up to find him staring at me, his eyes transfixed. I feel my cheeks heat up under his gaze.
