Chapter 3 : Peace is Right. Pain will Reign.

Will, Dallas and I just pulled up in the parking lot, when I caught the blonde from this mornings scent ; Coconut & Vanilla. It was strong. REALLY strong. Like she'd been out here a couple minutes ago. I closed my eyes and sniffed the air. She's definitely out here.

"Jace you good ?" Will asked.

Both him and Dal were eyeing me as if I've gone mad.

"Go," I said fanning them off, "I'll catch up."

It was after a minute of Dal arguing with me through our mind link, did he decide to follow in Will's footsteps and leave me be. That boy acts like my damn ruler when i'm the Alpha.

I searched the lot for about 5 minutes finding nothing. I was starting to lose hope, when I remembered the small adjacent lot which had been closed off.

Could she be there ?

"It never hurts to check stupid." Ralph growled.

But she's new, how would she know about it ?

"Just go."

Ok then. I walked around the back of the school and went through the alley way connected to the side. This is where the smokers or people wanting a quick fuck go. I drew back the blue cover piece and opened the rusty white iron gate.

As soon as I stepped through, I saw her curled up on the floor to the left. I slowly walked up to her and found she was breathing deeply.

"Help her." Ralph said surfacing again.

How ? I don't even know what's wrong.

"Just do something. She's our mate and she's hurting."

You don't even know if that's true.

"Jace stop stalling." He snapped before settling again.

I rolled my eyes, here we go.

Lani Pierce

I've been trying to calm down, but everything just keeps surfacing. My dad murdered my little sister in cold blood. It was what always triggered my anger. His abusive attitude towards her started my anger issues and even after he rotted in prison, it still triggers me.

My mom didn't even care. She wasn't even here. That also triggers me and sometimes when people I care about get messed with, it could be a joke, but I go ballistic. It's my protective instincts. I try to protect everyone and everything close to or around me. I never gave up, even after I failed to protect Amya.

I thought it was all over and her death, led to me living with my uncle, his wife and my brother but sometimes I end up staying at Theo's place. Then it happened again, someone I cared deeply about, I lost them and I-...Peace is Right. Pain will Reign.

"Are you ok ?" Someone asked.

I ignored them and focused on calming down.

"Hey, I'm talking to you." The person spoke again.

"Mate ! Mate ! Lani it's our Maaaate !" Allison sang.

I looked up to see him staring at my face.

"What's wrong ?"

"None of your business." I spat.

"Hey I'm trying to help you here so calm the fuck down and talk to me."

"I don't have to talk if I don't want to now do me a favour and fuck off."
I can't confide in anyone. Theodore's my bestfriend and not even he knows.

His posture suddenly changed to a rigid one and he took a deep breath. In a flash he had me pinned against the gates.

"Let.Me.Go. Who the fuck do you think you are ?" I asked through clenched teeth. His muscles tensed and he looked ready to kill.

"Who the fuck do I think I am ? I'm a fucking Alpha. That's what I am."

"Yeah but your not my Alpha so back the fuck up."

As much as I wanted to push him off, I couldn't. I can't risk what happened the last time to happen again. I didn't want him to find out what I was. He couldn't find out what I was.

"Find out what ?" He asked with a low growl after reading my mind.

"It's my business, not yours."

His grip on my neck tightened, it didn't hurt, but for the sake of everything, I winced in pain.

"Really now ?" He asked, his voice getting deeper, "You do realize who your speaking to right ?"

I had a hunch, but shook my head in response.

He laughed menacingly, "Let me introduce you. I'm Ralph and I'm Jace's wolf."

"So what's your point ?"

"Even though Jace fails to accept that we are mates, I've already accepted it and I can mark you if I want, right here, right now." He said while twirling a strand of my hair around his finger. I then felt my wolf purr in excitement. This is not good.

"You wouldn't dare." I said while trying to fight Allison from taking over my body. If she did, I knew she would have Ralph mark her.

"Try me."

"Fine I'll tell you."

His eyes lit up in excitement and anticipation as he loosened his hold on my wrists.

I leaned closer to his ear, "Fuck. You." I whispered with a smirk.

He held me up right by my chin and kissed my neck, making my eyes flutter closed as I moaned in pleasure. Allison was on the verge of taking over, so I closed my eyes hoping he didn't see the gold colour in which they had turned.

Suddenly he stopped and let me go. When I regained control, I opened my eyes to see him looking shocked about his actions.

"I-"

"You need to step back." I said feeling a pang of an unfamiliar emotion in my chest which I chose to ignore.

"I'm sorry. It's just tha-"

"You have a problem with us being mates." I finished.

"No lis-"

"It's ok. You don't gotta explain. Just tell Ralph to back off." I said turning on my heels.

"For an Alpha, you're an asshole." I spat.

"Repeat what you just said." He said glowering at me.

"I don't have to. It's pretty clear you heard me the first time." I answered.

I was about to walk away when he grabbed my wrist.

"You're lucky you're my mate else I would've killed you for disrespecting me."

"No. Lucky would be being anything, but your mate." A raw of emotion flashed through his eyes before he masked it over.

"You can leave." Jace said while he moved away from me. I walked off fixing the neck of my hoodie because I was sure I had a hickey.
