Chapter 9
As we sat down on the logs around the bonfire, Dawn and a few other of the gypsies were preparing breakfast. A pot of tea was being passed around and there were some paper cups and plates resting on the camp table. I go grab a cup and a plate and Dash hands me the pot of tea.
"Thanks," I say gratefully and pour myself a cup.
As I sat down at the campfire, Dawn joins me. More gypsies have sat down on the logs and it's starting to feel like a family meal.
"Alright, everyone! Since Angel and Sky have decided to stay, I think we should make some introductions." Dawn announces and I blush slightly.
As each person around the bonfire said their name, I noticed some were staring at me disapprovingly.
"Dash..." I began nervously and he faces me. "Don't worry, I will explain later," he whispers as the introductions.
A few people stood out to me - Fawn, Lilac and Grass. They had such odd names but I guess I couldn't say anything since my name is Angel.
Fawn and Lilac were around my age and came over to introduce themselves properly afterwards. They were sisters and I knew we were going to get along great.
"Who do you think you are? Just barging in on us?" Fawn rudely shouts.
Or maybe we won't get on so well. Lilac shoved Fawn and she stormed off angrily.
"Sorry about my sister. She's a bit of a cow sometimes," she smiles and looks directly at me.
"Oh ok. I take it that you two are very different then?" I laugh and she joins in.
"Honestly, we are completely different! She has always been the popular, mean girl that everyone secretly hates. I'm just the shy girl, who just blends into the background," she says and looks at the ground.
"I think we are going to end up being best friends," I state matter-of-factly.
She smiles up at me and I smile back.
"Alright, do you want to go for a tour of the town? We have actually been here a couple of times for the Festival Of Youth and I always enjoy looking around the town. So, you up for it?" She asks with a smile.
"Sure!" I exclaim eagerly.
We agree to meet up in five minutes and as I'm walking back to the caravan, Grass falls into step beside me.
"Hey beautiful," he said with a wink.
"Um hey," I say uncomfortably, avoiding his eyes and lustful stare.
"I think we should go out sometime," he states with a smile.
"Oh, I'm kind of with someone at the moment," I say, looking away.
He stops abruptly and spins to face me, an angry glare on his face.
"Oh really? Who would want you?" He says, changing his tone of voice now that he had been rejected.
A pair of arms snake around my waist and Grass stares.
"Well, I want her," Dash says, giving me a quick kiss on the cheek.
"You and her?" Grass says with his mouth open in shock.
"Yep, she's mine," he states with a smirk. My heart flutters at his words.
"Wait till Fawn hears about this!" He smirks back and walks off.
Fawn? Why would Fawn care about us being together?
"Um?"
I didn’t know what to say.
"I saw Fawn being a right cow to you earlier. She's so mean to everyone, that's why I broke up with her so long ago," he states, not looking me in the eyes.
Dash and Fawn dated?
I look at him dumbfounded; I couldn't believe that Dash, the sweetest boy ever, dated the cow from hell.
"I guess you couldn't even call it dating, we went out for dinner, like twice, and then she decided that we were together. It lasted about three days and then I ended it. She was so mad but still flirts with me every time she sees me. But it doesn't matter now, I have you," he says with a happy smile.
I lean in to hug him and he clutches me protectively. I pull away from him and say,
"Erm, Dash… what exactly is our relationship though?" I ask awkwardly.
He smirks at me and says, "Not sure, I think we should just stick to being friends," he says, looking away.
I think my heart just shattered in two and I begin to walk off. He runs up behind me and puts his arms around me.
"Angel, will you be my girlfriend?" He says and I swear I see a faint blush arise on his cheeks.
"Of course I will," I say and bury myself into him.
He holds me tight until we hear someone clearing their throat behind us. I turn and see Lilac standing there smiling.
"So were you planning on changing?" Lilac motions to the shirt I was wearing.
Oh my gosh! I had completely forgotten I was wearing Dash's shirt! I blushed deeply and a realisation dawned on me.
"I don't have any clothes," I say.
"Well here you go," Dash takes out his wallet and fishes out 30 euro.
"No Dash, I couldn't possibly.." I say, trailing off.
"Don't buy any pyjamas, I like you sleeping in my top," he says with a wink and walks off.
Lilac fishes out another 20 euro and hands it over to me.
"I will pay you back, I promise!" I say and smile gratefully at her.
"Come on, you can borrow some of my clothes," she say and drags me over to her caravan.
