"your idea is working" nick laughed from the drivers seat.

"what idea?" ryan asked.

"getting zion jealous"

"at this point, all he does is get jealous. he doesn't do anything to actually show me he's interested." ryan rolled her eyes. "why are men so uhhhh"

"hey i'm trying to write alexys a cute song, i am not uhhh" nick mocked ryan's groan.

"whatever just drive" ryan laughed.

the night at cold stone nick was telling ryan about how he still wasn't able to get over his ex even after all he tried. by the looks of her social media, she wasn't over nick either. but the constant fear of doing a long distance relationship always scared her away from continuing to talk to nick.

"so what's the plan?" nick asked.

"i play piano and you sing whatever your little heart feels" ryan smiled giving him a small feeling of reassurance.

ryan's fingers began to play the keys on the piano that sat in her living room.

nick stood with his elbows on the piano and began to mumble.

"i'm so scared to lose you, never choosing to let go" he mumbled, "love's so fragile anything could happen and we know. hearts made of glass and somehow we last"

ryan smiled at her friend and continued to play a melody repeatedly until he gathered his thoughts.

"this is stupid" nick groaned rubbing his fingers through his hair.

"it sounds good, i promise you"

"stop lying ry"

"nicholas mara, the words you're saying matter. especially to alexys so stop being such a pussy and sing you stupid" ryan giggled.

nick shook his head, a small smirk painted on his face.

"when i close my eyes, all i think about is you" he sang quietly.

her mom was right, maybe this town wasn't all that horrible. even if she couldn't have zion, she had good friends.

"honey i'm home" zion's mom yelled into the home.

the only child of the home sat in the living room with his headphones plugged into his ears.

"i'm home" his mom repeated herself, taking the piece out of his ear.

"sorry mom, i was just doing homework" zion apologized.

"it didn't look like you were doing much" she laughed at him.

zion looked down at his paper to see scribbles filled the page.

"so who's the girl?" his mom asked, making zion's face scrunch up in confusion. "oh come on z, i was a teenager. i know love when i see it"

"it doesn't matter who it is, i messed up and she doesn't wanna hear from me i'm sure"

"it's was the girl from the dinner isn't it?" she smirked.
