"about fucking time" edwin groaned as he opened the door for zion and ryan.

"sorry i had some lady issues" ryan lied.

"tmi ry, tmi" edwin waved her away.

zion made his way downstairs and ryan followed him. brandon had a really nice home, and i guess it made sense since his dad was a sergeant major.

"hi guys" ryan said walking into the room downstairs with music equipment everywhere.

the guys waved hello, but remained concentrated on their task.

"alright check this out" brandon said as he hit the play button on his computer.

a high pitch voice began to ring from the computer. it was like a combination of chopped up sounds put together.

"is this about charlotte? " austin asked.

"who's charolette?" ryan asked, making all the boys groan except brandon.

"this girl i was dating since freshman year but then she moved because her dad got stationed in hawaii" he explained.

"yeah he hasn't let her go since then" nick rolled his eyes.

"okay like you didn't spend your whole sophomore year sulking over alexys moving to texas" brandon clapped back.

the boys gave brandon a round of applause for the sassy comment.

"alright so y'all gonna hop on? i already have lyrics written" brandon asked.

all the boys turned their heads as to not face brandon in the eye.

"i'll try" a soft voice said.

"really ryan?" brandon smiles big.

"sure, it's just for fun right?"

brandon nodded and sat her down in front of a microphone placing headphones over her ears. ryan took the paper with words written on it. the melody hummed in her ears and she began to sing.

"did y'all know she could do that?" edwin whispered to the boys.

"no" brandon shook his head.

"not a clue" austin said with his eyes bludging out.

"she's good" nick nodded.

"she's perfect" zion smiled.

the melody stopped in the headphones and ryan softly took them off as to not mess her hair up.

"any good?" she asked.

"who taught you all that?" brandon asked ignoring her question.

"who taught me what?"

"well to begin with the control of that range" nick said.

"the range is another question though, like how is it so fucking high" edwin laughed.

"i mean i don't know i just sing and that voice comes out" ryan giggled.

"well you're really good at it" zion assures her.

the room went silent and it took zion a minute to figure out all the other boys were staring at him in confusion. zion wasn't the type to compliment anyone, especially females.

he always told them, he never entertained the thought of being nice to females. but ryan was different.

"hey ryan do you wanna go see brandon's dogs? they're upstairs" edwin said.

"oh my gosh yes! show me!" ryan jumped with excitement.

edwin walked her upstairs and left her playing with the dogs while he ran back downstairs.

"spill it. now" ed demanded.

"spill what?" zion asked.

"whatever you've got going on with ry" austin said.

"i don't have anything going on with her" zion rolled his eyes.

"okay well what do you feel towards her? because clearly you feel some way" brandon winked.

"i don't okay so cut the crap and let me breathe" zion nearly yelled

"oh my gosh these dogs are so cute" ryan walked in laughing as one of the golden-doodles jumped on her.

"not as cute as you" nick said making everyone turn this heads.

"what?" ryan asked

"yeah what?" zion gave him a glare.

"i just said ryan was cute? what's the shocker?"

"thank you i guess" ryan fake smiled.

the room stayed quite for a minute. everyone had caught onto what nick was doing, except for zion and ryan.

"so ry, do you any plans for saturday?" nick said making zions face get red with anger.

"i don't think so"

"great, so you're free for a date then?"

"nick" zion warned.

"cmon ryan, just one date and if you don't like me then we move on"

"one date" ryan agreed.

she didn't necessarily want to. but she felt bad saying no in front of everyone. she liked zion but maybe he didn't feel the same way if he didn't object to the idea of a date with nick.

"yo ryan, ima head home do you want a ride?" austin asked.

"sure" she replied. "see you guys on monday at school, we'll i guess except you nick"

"see you ry" the boys said.

as soon as austin closed the door behind ryan, zion ran over to nick and grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and pressed him against the wall.

"i don't know what the fuck you think you're doing but cancel the date" zion yelled.

"why do you care if i hang out with her? you said you didn't feel no way about her" nick yelled back still under zion's grasp.

"unless this means you do– you know, like ryan" edwin added.

zion let go of nick before grabbing his keys off the desk and leaving rapidly.

yes he liked her. but the boys didn't need to know all of that. and nick shouldn't have asked ryan on a date either way.

the thought of her dating nick repulsed him. he wasn't going to let her go that easily. no way.
