It was cold and snowy out and Baylee and Millie were walking down town. They had been baby shopping and were now headed back to the car. They were cutting through an alley to avoid the busy streets when Millie's worst nightmare came true. A lone man ahead of them stepped out in front of them.
"Dude move." Baylee said.
"Not. Without her." he said. Baylee's arm instinctively wrapped on Millie's belly holding Millie behind her. "You remember me don't you Millie?" he smiled a horrible smile. Butch. The man who was hell bent on ruining her.
"Baylee... Baylee please-" Millie was shaking.
"I suggest you hand her over." he said and men appeared behind them.
"Millie..." Baylee said. "Sweep." Baylee said. The men looked confused. "One, two, three!" Baylee quickly yelled and on three Millie jumped up and Baylee dropped to the ground and flung her leg so hard into all the mens legs they fell. Baylee grabbed Millie's hand and ran but Butch was fast and caught her by her hair yanking her back and that was the last thing he ever did. Baylee stabbed him with zero hesitation. The other two men looked horrified.
"You ever come near her again... it'll be you next." Baylee growled. She pulled the claws from her hand back in and she and Millie ran. Millie was crying and panting in the car. They made it home and Baylee held Millie who was bawling, on the couch.
"Mills sh... Millie it's ok, you're safe, you're safe now." Baylee cooed. Once Millie calmed down they went to bed.
Two days later. Millie was a good four nearly five months along and she was in the shop working with Sadie. Millie was leaning with her hands on the counter. She let out a sigh.
"You good Millie?" Sadie said and walked over.
"Yeah... contracting..." Millie sighed. The shop bell rung indicating someone entered. Millie and Sadie looked to see Baylee coming in with a bag.
"Well look who it is." Sadie grinned. "Finally made it in." Sadie teased. She and Baylee hugged.
"It's good to see you too loser." Baylee laughed. They let each other go and Baylee set the bag on the table. "You ok Mills?" Baylee said. Millie stood off leaning the counter and stood with a sigh.
"I'm okay." Millie said. Baylee hugged her. When they stopped hugging Baylee felt Millie's head.
"You look tired" Baylee said.
"There is a couch in the back room, I told her to go nap but what'd you say Millie?" Sadie said looking down at her nails.
"I'm not tired, I have to work come on guys." Millie sighed.
"Oh come on, go lay down I can fill in for you." Baylee said. "I also got you lunch, go chill out momma, I got it." Baylee said. Millie sighed and gave Baylee a quick peck on the lips before taking the bag and going to go lay down. Customers came in and out and Sadie and Baylee had turned it into a game, most of the customers if not all of them called Baylee 'sir' or tried not to use 'he' or 'she' at all.
"Well it's 4:00, Millie's shift is over you guys are good to go loser." Sadie said.
"She's still sleeping, it won't hurt to stay will it?" Baylee said.
"I guess not." Sadie grinned. "Do you guys have baby names picked out yet?" Sadie asked.
"No... Millie said not until after he or she is born." Baylee said. Sadie nodded.
"I guess that would avoid trauma if something bad did happen... which it won't." Sadie said.
"Yeah." Baylee said.
"How is she holding up anyways? I mean being pregnant again." Sadie said.
"I mean she seems excited to me but I'm sure it's hard for her." Baylee said.
"Hey, it's all fun until the delivery room." Sadie laughed.
"Oh God." Baylee grinned.
"Well when she's in labor you better tell me. I'll be right outside that door." Sadie said.
"You know it, I doubt she'd care if you were in there I mean you guys are practically sisters." Baylee said.
"Oh no, trust me she does not want anyone in there but you. She's really scared-" Sadie said then fell suddenly quiet. Millie was walking over looking rather drowsy.
"Heya Mills, how was your nap?" Baylee asked.
"You're working overtime let's go home... please..." Millie said. Baylee grinned and said bye to Sadie and the two went home.
"Sadie said you were struggling." Baylee said without taking her eyes off the road.
"I was fine." Millie said. She rubbed her lower belly that was slightly showing now. Baylee pulled in the drive way. Dinner time came and passed and now the pair were in bed. Millie was quiet. Baylee suddenly sat up.
"Mills are you sure you're okay?" Baylee blurted.
"Just overthinking." Millie sighed. Baylee put an arm over her and Millie rolled over facing Baylee and closed her eyes after putting an arm over Baylee.
"What are you thinking about?" Baylee said.
"What if I can't do it?" Millie whispered.
"Don't think like that, women have babies everyday Mills." Baylee said.
"All I can remember is the pain... before and afterwards." Millie admitted. Baylee tucked some of Millie's hair back behind her ear.
"But you're still here, because you Mills, are a badass." Baylee grinned and kissed Millie on the forehead. Millie couldn't help but smile. "Plus we'll be home this time okay? Right down the road from the hospital and everything." Baylee said. Millie swallowed and her smile faded.
"It's all just nerve racking and scary to me you know." Millie sighed. "Don't get me wrong I want this it's just," Millie sighed, "It's a long process." Millie said.
"That's true. I mean four more months though." Baylee said.
"Three. It's midnight I am six months along now." Millie grinned. Baylee looked at the clock and smiled.
"Oh well excuse me, three more months." Baylee laughed. They kissed. The two cuddled close in each others embrace and fell fast asleep.
