"Are you sure, Logan? The last time that you said that you had a plan, it didn't go so well, did it?" I reminded him.

"Yes, I do remember my original plan, and you are right. Things did not go according to plan, but I am sure that this time there will be a higher chance of our success."

Patton looked up at the logical trait with wide eyes. "Really? You think it'll work?" A smile spread across the dad-like trait's face.

Logan nodded and told the two of us that he would be right back. He had to go grab something from his room to explain.

Once he left, the Patton's smile vanished, and it was replaced with a look of worry and concern.

"It's not gonna work," he said glumly. "I know that Logan tries to be helpful with his ideas, but he doesn't know what it's like as a Dark Side. Sure we did sorta get turned into them, but he doesn't really know."

"What do you mean?"

"Well, you were down there for a while, so you have a better understanding of what it's like. Logan hasn't," Patton sighed, plopping down onto the couch. "I know he's just trying to help, but--"

"Patton?" Logan asked as he made his way down the stairs.

The curly-haired man gasped, placing a hand over his mouth. "I-I didn't.."

"Patton, I am not hurt by your words; in fact, they make me feel the need to try harder. If you both feel obliged to disagree with my plan, then I will try again."

Patton blushed and hid his face from Logan as he began to explain his next plan to rescue Roman.

"I know that you will both be against this, but I suggest that we hold Deceit, along with all the other Dark Sides in their holding area from before. Virgil, since you are technically one yourself, we will have to get you changed back before that plan can fall into place."

"No!" Patton and I both exclaimed at the same time.

"I'm sorry, Loggy, but that's not okay. Virgil hated that place, and so did the others. Most of them haven't done anything bad, so torturing them like that is horrible," Patton explained.

"He's right, Logan. You need to come up with something else."

The logical side suggested that Patton came up with an idea since it would take him a while.

Patton rubbed his forehead and thought silently for a minute or two. He proposed that we all went to the Edge of the Mind Space and fought Deceit there. It was far away from the Dark and Light Realms, so no harm would come to anyone else.

"Virgil, do you think that you can use your powers against other sides?" Patton wondered.

I agreed. "Yes, but there's no fucking way I'm using them to fight him. I had no clue how to use my powers when I was younger, and I still don't know now."

Patton shook his head. He bit his lip nervously and tapped his fingers together. "You wouldn't be the one using your powers. I would. I could try to access them at the Edge. I've seen Logan's research, and I know that it's possible. It has more energy than anywhere else in Thomas's mind."

Patton then continued to say how since he was the first to be taken over by Deceit, he has a better idea of how he thinks. While Deceit was in Patton's form, he was able to see all of the deceptive trait's thoughts and intentions at that moment; however, it was not much to work with. That was why he had never brought it up until now. With this ability, Patton was closer to stopping Deceit than anyone else.

"Do you know how dangerous something like that would be?" Logan asked. "You could be injured, and... I would not be able to live with myself if I let that happen."

Patton smiled sadly and held Logan's cheek. "I'll be fine as long as I have you two with me."

Patton hugged Logan tightly before turning to me. "Virgil, think that we should wait until tomorrow to do this. You just came back, and we all need to rest after all of this craziness that's been going on."

I nodded and trudged up the stairs to my room. Once the door closed behind me, I sunk to the floor and stared down at my hands. The ominous purple mist swirled around my pale fingers and crept up my arms.

It's a good thing that Roman can't see me like this, I laughed to myself.

Hopefully, by this time tomorrow, the prince would finally be home. It had felt like an eternity had passed since we had joked about Disney movies or how Patton and Logan were hiding their obvious relationship from us.

I stood up and walked over to my nightstand. On the top was a small photograph of the four of us.

Patton, Roman, Logan, and I all had wide grins on our faces since it was Thoma's birthday. We all wanted to make sure that his day was perfect, causing lots of stress. The picture was taken at the end of the day when Thomas had finally gone to sleep, and we were overjoyed that the day was over.

I chuckled softly and placed the photo back on the nightstand. It was just a few minutes past nine, but I was exhausted from everything that had happened today.

From the other side of the hall, I could hear the quiet sounds of Patton's snoring and Logan turning off the lights in the house. Maybe it was time to go to sleep.

Soon you'll be back, Roman. Soon you'll be back.

Happy Birthday, Patton!
