Patton's POV
"Ow!" I yelped as I rubbed my head. "That hurt, Deceit!"
Once I started to feel a bit better, I stared upwards at the tunnel that I had fallen through. It seemed like it stretched on forever, so there was no way that I could go back the way that I came. Maybe I could try to find Virgil!
"I'll find you, kiddo. Then I'll find a way to get us outta here," I said quietly as I peered into the darkness around me.
Well, here goes nothing! Better to try to do something than do nothing!
I wandered around in the endless, black place that I had landed in. Could this be the place where the Dark Sides lived? If so, no wonder why Virgey hated this place so much. So much darkness and negativity all the time would be horrible. Hopefully, Roman didn't have to deal with any of this wherever he was being kept.
After a while, I came to a clearing that was filled with tall, twisting trees. Their long, dark brown branches stretched out in all different directions, trying to find sunlight that didn't exist.
Yup. This is definitely the Dark Sides' home, I thought. Virgil has got to be around here somewhere.
I made my way past acres of the trees until I reached another clearing. Just a couple yards away was a house that looked almost exactly like the one I lived in except this one grey and black. If the anxious trait was in there, Roman would most likely be close by.
As I made a step forward towards the house, I heard a branch snap beneath my feet.
A loud cackle echoed across the terrain, sending shivers down my spine.
"Viiiirgil? Is that you? Deceit will kill you for trying to escape," an oily voice called out from nearby.
Footsteps began to ring out through the darkness, and they were coming right towards me. I had to get out of here and fast!
Just as I was about to run in the opposite direction, I felt Thomas summoning me from back in his home.
"Oh, thank goodness," I said as I was swept back to safety.

Virgil's POV
"Thomas, what the hell do you want?!" I roared, marching over to the young man.
"I was gathering all of you together to talk about Deceit. He came to visit me earlier, and I thought you might want to know," he said, shrinking back in fear.
"Oh, thank goodness I'm back!" Patton cried as he was summoned into the living room. "I never want to see that place again."
Logan appeared and rushed over to Patton. "Patton, are you unharmed? Please be aware that none of the things that I did were my true actions. Deceit will pay for what he did to you."
"Lo-Lo, I'm okay. I just got a little lost; that's all," Patton chirped with a weak smile.
Logan eyed the dad-like trait suspiciously. "We will continue this later. Virgil, did you have any luck with finding Roman?"
I nodded my head sadly. I explained to them how I had managed to sneak past Deceit, and I found the prison where he was keeping Roman.
Thomas, Logan, and Patton were overjoyed with the good news and didn't question me about anything else that happened while I was gone. There was no way that I would ever tell them about the deal that I had made with Deceit and Remus. If they knew about what I did, they would never let me come back even if I rescued Roman.
"So, what's the plan?" Patton asked curiously, curled up next to Logan on the couch.
Is something... going on between them, or is it just me? I wondered.
"Virgil," Thomas said. "You have the floor. You're the only one who knows their way around that place."
Three pairs of eyes met mine. Panic began to take over my mind, sending a wave of anxiety throughout my body.
"So?" I shot back. I didn't mean to freak out, but there was nothing I could do. "Just because I know how to get around doesn't mean that getting in there is the easiest thing in the world! If any of the other sides see you, they will kill you. Have anyone of you even bothered to think about how hard this must be for me? Come on, raise your hands if you have."
I waited for a response and saw that all three of them avoided my harsh gaze.
"That's what I thought," I said, marching back to my room.
They'll never care about you, Virgil. Face the truth.
I already knew that, and I dealt with it every day. Maybe I should go back to the Dark Sides. At least there, I actually felt needed even if it was all a lie.
I thought of Deceit, Remus, and the other Dark Sides and sighed. I was going back to my old home, and this time I wouldn't be coming back to this place.
"Virgil!" Patton yelled, flying through the doorway. "Virgil, Deceit is here! You gotta hurry!"
"What?! Bring me to him. Now."
