"I am telling you, we are so late." Jordan said hurrying up and making me hurry with him.

"Fashionably late is what I call it." I remarked.

"Damn right. It was a really private event, i didn't know that the paparazzi knew." He said snaking his hand around my waist posing for a picture that was most probably going to be on every tabloid.

"They didn't, I told them." I replied smilingly at him for another picture.

After all it was a special day for both of us. Can you image going from a high school teacher to a business woman in just a matter of few months. And before you wonder, yes i did have qualifications for that.

"Why would you do that?" He asked completely confused.

"You know me, a little show here, a little show there."

The party was held by none other than Jordan's dad who was finally handing over the business to his one and only son officially. I met Jordan, a month after my break up with Brad. He was actually a jerk at first but we go well together later on. We helped each other out throughout these past months and were now merging our powers. And that was my big breakthrough.

"Leila, dear you look beautiful." George Rogers, Jordan's dad greeted me with a kiss on the cheek.

"Hi George, you don't look half bad yourself." I said teasing him and he just laughed in return.

From what I knew, George had raised Jordan alone. They were originally from England but moved to America after Jordan's mom's death in a car accident when he was 11. And then expanded their software business here in America which than grew so rapidly and now here they are.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, May I have your attention please? As you all know, this day is for my boy who has grown up into a fine man, whom I am really proud of and I am really glad announcing that I finally retire today as the C.E.O and my son Jordan Rogers is the heir of the LARA Businesses now..." I didn't really pay attention to the rest of the speech as I started thinking about how much this man really loved his wife, he named his whole empire after her but I guess that kind of love doesn't exist anymore. Nowadays people date just to fill the empty spaces in their lives.

"Leila, please join us here." Jordan called from where the whole attention was. I didn't even notice when the mic was passed to Jordan.

"I want you all to meet Leila Adams, my dear friend and now an investor, without whom this day wouldn't have arrived." Jordan said handing me the mic.

"Thankyou Jordan, Good evening everybody I am really happy for the success of my friend here and it's true he couldn't have done it without me." I joked. "But jokes apart, Jordan really deserved what he got so tonight we toast to Jordan's success." I said and raised my glass of champagne.

The crowd that was gathered, now started to mingle around. If someone had told me a year ago that I would be doing this, I would've laughed at their faces but nobody knows what future holds for you.

"Leila." Someone called from behind, and recognised that voice really well. It still sent shivers down my spine. It was Brad.

"Brad, what a surprise." I said with fake excitement. The truth was I didn't even want to see his face.

"A surprise indeed." He said checking me out shamelessly from head to toe and I did the same.

"You look different, but beautiful as ever." He commented or complimented, I wasn't really sure.

"Thanks, I cut my hair." I replied.

"Ah, I see. Your hair even match your dress." Yeah, I kinda expected that. I not only cut my long hair to a shoulder length but also dyed them black red ombre, and that red matched my red dress.

I just gave him a tight lipped smile in return. "I need to go find Jordan, see you around. Have fun." I couldn't stand near him, there was just too much tension in the air between us.

"I see you found your lover boy." Jordan commented getting away from a group of girls.

I just rolled my eyes at him and snatched the drink from his hand, I had had four drinks already and this was my fifth one and I was getting real drunk. "He's not my lover. And it's been so long anyway, I am so over it."

"Yeah, that explains your drunk crying in the middle of the night last week." He's such an ass. I mean, It was that time of month and you know what a girl on her periods is like.

"Fuck off."

"Come on let's dance." He said grabbing my hand and leading me to dance floor.

"You're really good at dancing." He remarked and I replied with "I know."

"Egoistic much." He snorted.

"Very much."

It was the time where your change your partners and guess who my partner was? Brad. OMG I am so happy. Note the sarcasm.

A slow song stared playing and we started dancing in the sync to the song. His hands slipped around my waist and mine around his shoulders. As much as I didn't want to say this but somewhere deep down I still had feelings for him even after everything he did. Stupid, right?

He pulled me closer to him and I rested my head on his chest and breathed in his scent, just as I remembered.

He looked at me in the eyes and asked "Want to get out of here?"

I don't know if it was the alcohol speaking or I had finally gone bonkers but I replied nevertheless. "Yes, please."
