BEING EVA

Chapter 6

Eva's POV

It has been three weeks since the incident with Mark. He never tried to contact me after that one letter he sent. I am very grateful for that, I don't think I can handle seeing him right now or ever if you ask me. I avoided as much as possible contact with Colton because I am too afraid that he might know something or he might even sense that something is not right.

As for Claressa and the twins whenever they invite me to go out I always use an excuse, mostly it will be my dad but I am running out of ideas how to avoid a night out with them. So when Claressa invited me to join the tonight I just refused saying that I am tired which by the way she didn't buy.

"Well E it has been what three weeks, are you avoiding me? Did I do something to you?" Claressa asks with anger lacing her voice. I understand why she is upset but please give me a break.

"No C, off course you didn't do anything I am just not in the mood for any crowds." Ok so I was honest there but I left out the bit about me being afraid of a bump in with Mark. At least she hasn't broached that subject again about me refusing the dinner date.

"Then what is wrong E you have been a different person this last three weeks?" what do I say to that?

"Why don't we have a movie night with the twins? Booze, pizza and a marathon of romantic comedies, what do you think?" I suggest in the hope that she would decline and rather go out.

"You know what that is a great idea we haven't done that since we were in college. Let me ring the twins."  This woman will stop at nothing why did I have to open my big mouth

"Okay" and with that I walked off to my room.

I went to sit on my bed but every time I enter this room that horrid night come flashing back. All I see is me on the bed with Mark taking me by force. I still haven't go to the doctor but I don't feel any soreness. I don't think he did any damage. Well let's hope he didn't do any damage. I am considering taking a extended vacation just to relax and find myself again. I think that I must also propose to Claressa that we sell the apartment and get something bigger. At least I won't have to enter a room of nightmares again then.

"Okay so they will be here in an hour with all the necessary goodies. E why are you crying?" I didn't even notice I had tears running down my cheeks.

"I....... Sorry C. I...." OMW I have to think. "I just miss my mom all of a sudden" now that isn't a lie. I do miss her every day. Especially after what happened.

"It will be fine E just think happy thoughts of her that's all."

"Thanks C."

"I will always be here for you E, always, you just remember that" Claressa says while she hugs me.

"C why don't we look for a condo in uptown I think a change will be good for us. Our business is blooming and we are far from the office why not move closer to our friends and to work. My dad bought this place so that we could commute to class easier. What do you think?" I ask her with puppy eyes, trying my best not to show any distress.

"Well that does sound like a good idea lets enjoy tonight and then we will talk tomorrow."

"Okay"

Claressa left my room and I changed in to a pair of yoga pants and a tank and made my way to living room. On my way down the short hallway I scraped all my courage together to face the twins. I haven't seen them since the charity even three weeks ago and I avoided them with all means. As I enter the living room I see Claressa getting everything ready for the movie night.

"Hi C would you like something to drink?"

"Sure grab me a beer from the fridge would you please?"

"Coming right up!" I make my way over to the kitchen to grab each of us a beer when I notice a brown envelope that was pushed under the door.

"C are you expecting a letter? There is one address to you that was pushed through under the door"

"No but put it on the table I will look at it later. Thanks E" I do as she asks and place the letter on the small table on by the door and make my way back to the fridge to grab two beers.

"Here you go C, so what are we watching tonight?" I ask Claressa as I handed her a beer

"Well I thought we could watch something fun like "how to lose a guy in ten days" and "Pretty woman" I wasn't sure of the rest though what do you think?"

"I like the selection you have going why don't we watch those and then decide later on the rest?"

"Great idea E" Claressa was interrupted by knocking on the front door.

"Coming" I yelled as I made my way over

I peeked through the peep hole and froze. "MMM C who did you invite?"

"Well everyone that matters off course" I groaned inwardly "Really C it was suppose to be a girls night" the knocking came again and I had no choice but to open the door.

I opened the door and stood to the side making way for the twins and Colton to come in but what I didn't expect was for Mark to walk in behind them. My eyes met his and I felt the colour drain my face.

"Hello Evaline, I missed that beautiful face of yours." Mark said but before I could respond darkness took over.
