Wayne Manor hosted charities very frequently. Most of these were for actual charity purposes, like the Wayne Sponsored children's hospital, or to help raise awareness for crime in Gotham City. But this fundraiser was different, the charity was conducted to draw out a ceratin villain. A villian thats suit relied on diamonds.
Victor Fries, or better known to the people of Gotham as Mr. Freeze.
The Su-Luing diamond was on vagrant display in the Wayne manor, ready to go home to the highest bidder. Bruce and his trusted partners were hoping this buyer would be Mr.Freeze. Mr.Freeze had robbed a jewelery store 2 months ago, killing three people, even to the Bat's best efforts. Bruce was determined to catch him and stop him from causing anymore harm to anyone.
The scene was set. Hundreds of people were there, but Bruce would make sure they were not harmed in any way. Tim was in the back of the main hall, where the diamond was being held in its clear galss display. Unknown to Freeze, the glass was modified by Wayne Industries to seal the diamond's case in steel if the temperature surrounding it dropped a large amount. Although Bruce knew he wouldnt get that far, he made it a procation.
Alfred had a comms set attached to his ear and it was nearly invisible to the naked eye. But it had one sole purpose: to keep in touch with Bruce and the Boy Wonder. They were all dressed casually, Bruce and Alfred in suits, while Tim in a T-shirt and black jeans.
The auction started at 7:00 on the dot. Bruce had a speech prepared, and was also prepared to be interupted, and having to dawn the cowl. The murders of those three guards at the jewelry store had made Bruce persistent, making him stop at nothing to stop the cold killer. Tim and Alfred saw where he was coming from, but they worried for him, more than usual.
"Thank you all for coming," Bruce pronounced to the crowd as he fixed the microhpone standing on the small stage. "Its an honor to be able to present the Su-Luing diamond here in Wayne manor. This gorgeous diamond is up for sale, and the money goes to the research of physiological and psychological treatment at Arkham Asylum. The bidding will comence after a short imtermission. Thank you all for coming out tonight."
Through the hall to the left of the main hall, there was a gorgoyle-like staute hung to the wall. It was a gray figure, with two horns and its sharp teeth and toungue showing from its mouth. That was Bruce's escape route. Pulling on the toungue would open a wall revealing a staircase, which lead to the Batcave. Bruce knew he'd have to use it. Tim did too, he was Bruce's backup. Like usual.
After a brief talk with Alfred, Bruce returned to the platform. "Okay people, the bidding starts at $100,000. I know it's low so take advantage of it,"Bruce said as everyone in the crowd chuckled. Geusts shout bids left and right, different bidders yelling out numbers like "150,000" and "$200,00". Then a loud crash startled everyone in the building. Everyone stopped dead silent.
Their guest of honor had arrived.
Everyone screamed and ran through the front doors. "Tim! Get them out of here!" Bruce yelled at Tim Drake while running into the left hall. He pulled the toungue and ran down the stairs.
The Batcave was something different. Training equipment, the Batmobile, the Batwing, the Batcomputer, and all of his suits in glass cases. He ran to a display case, opened it up, and changed into his XE suit. He had used this suit to beat Freeze before, and he would use it to do it again.
