Clary POV

I focus on my breathing. Trying to slow it to its normal speed. Was I ready to hear this? I asked myself. Jace must have noticed because he releases his grip of my hand wraps his arm around my back.

I honestly hadn't realized I needed his stability until I had it. When we walked closer and found an open gap in the circle, I stared as Izzy. She didn't have her usual smile, which worried me.

We sat there in silence and I wasn't quite sure why, but I stayed silent. Jace's arm was still around my waist and I prayed it wouldn't move. My gaze shifted every couple second to someone else.

Simon's head was hanging low. I looked at his body it wasn't tense, it looked delicate instead. He looked almost helpless. Then my eyes moved to Izzy. Her positive wasn't radiating off of her like it usually was. Her body was a free spirit, instead it was strained. Alec did look much different then usual; his blank expression was still present. Magnus's unique glow was dampened. I worried did they something we didn't.

"What are we waiting for?" Jace demanded. His unexpected anger jolted me. I looked at his shocked I hadn't noticed him getting worked up. He stared at every and I looked around too. I see Alec open his mouth but when we sound of the opening door, he stopped.

I looked back at who Alec was staring at. I turned my body and I heard everyone else do the same. When my eyes landed on Maryse, Luke, Maia, Raphael, Catarina, Aline, Lydia, and Meliorn walking into the room, my heart filled with hope and despair.

"Luke." I said as walked towards him. His strong arms embraced me, and I let my head rest on his strong chest. I was thankful he was here. "Thanks for coming." I whispered even though I didn't know why exactly he was here.

"I wouldn't be anywhere else, kiddo." I whispered back. I smiled as everyone made their way around the table. It was full now and everyone was stern and serious. I found my place next to Jace who hands were strongly planted on the table, waiting for news. I did as he did but placed my closest hand on top of his.

"Thank you everyone for coming." Alec started to speak. Jace's turned to face me and I flashed him a smile to help him relax. He refused to return one, but I continued to smooth my fingers over his rough knuckles. "I wouldn't have asked you hear if it wasn't important." I see Alec look over at Izzy and nod shortly.

"Some of you may know, we captured Johnathan." A few people in the room gasped at his name. Before the surveillance cameras captured a photo of him, we all believed he was dead. "Yes, Johnathan somehow escaped edem alive. We have been interrogating him for three days now." Izzy paused as she picked up a remote and directed it at the television screen. We watched as it turned on. "He told us of a prophecy of an angelic full-blooded child that will be the greatest weapon in creation." Izzy's eyes landed on me, "and told us of how to cure Clary's rune, but he claims he knows nothing more."

"We are keeping him in the underground cells in Idris for now since he will not provide anymore information." Alec reassured us. "But while we were there.." Alec's eyes glanced to Magnus who began to speak.

"I had a chance to look over the library. I found a legend that states that the angelic full-blooded child will start exhibiting unique powers starting her sixth birthday." Magnus paused as he lifted the book closer to his face. "On this birthday the hunt for this child will begin. It will start with small, harmless creatures, but if she is not captured in the following years, a demon will be unleased from the depths of the earth to capture her and kill her before she can retain her complete powers on her tenth birthday." Magnus's gaze fell onto me.

Jace POV

I felt an unexpected gasp escape my mouth as I listened to these terrible words.

"While this demon's primary target will be the child, it will destroy the mundane world and potentially the shadow world in its path." Magnus finished closing the book and silently placing it on the table.

"We called you here to help us prevent the mundane world's destruction. As much as most of you care for Callie, we need to protect everyone." Alec's eyes did not meet mine. They didn't dare to due to my overwhelming anger that was boiling in me.

"We have a way to stop the demon from coming all together, but we need time to work on the theory. Having shadowhunters protecting Callie isn't enough." Magnus stated.

"What exactly is this theory?" Raphael asked curious. I was curious of the same but glared at him.

"The legend directly states a new creature will be sent once the previous one has been killed." Magnus said reading word for word from the text.

"So, if I can make a holding cell, similarly to the owl's, we could stop the attacks entirely." Izzy said with confidence. It lifted the spirits in the room. I heard Clary breath out in relief.

"I don't have anything to give you all but my gratitude if you choose to help us, but if we protect Callie now, we could stop a potential war between the world." Clary said talking to the group. Each looked at her and contemplated what to do.

"The wolves are in." Luke stated looking back at Maia who nodded in agreement. I see Simon glance in Raphael's direction.

"The warlocks are of course." Catarina said winking at Magnus who returned one back.

"The vampires as well." Raphael stated receiving a gracious smile from Magnus.

"I will go talk to the queen and return with our census." Meliron said following everyone out. The room was left with the original six.

Clary POV

I looked over at the rest of them and smile. This wasn't great news, my daughter's death horrified me, but everyone stepping and formulating a plan, brought me hope. I wasn't scared anymore. I had faith in everyone that stepped into this room.

"All the legends are true." Simon said with a small chuckle. I turned to him and smiled hald-heartly. I heard a hard slam against the table and turned to see Jace walking out. He scuffed and slammed the door behind him. "Was it something I said?" Simon asked trying not to joke. I shook my head.

"I'll go." Alec said exiting after him. I stood there in a daze until I heard a loud gasp. I looked at Izzy who had made it.

"CLARY FAIRCHILD!! WHAT IS THAT ON YOUR FINGER?!" She screamed running around to me. Everyone stared at my hand that was rested on table. My ring sparkled in the light and I laughed forgetting all about last night momentarily.

"Soon to be Herondale." I laughed at my humor. Izzy hugged me tightly as everyone who was left congratulated me.
