About three hours after school I get ready to go to the mall with our friends.

I walk out of my house in a white shirt and dark jeans.

"Let's go pansycake," I scream to Zeke, "I'm going to leave you."

I can't wait to see Marlene.

Shut up, I snap at myself.

She doesn't like you you're her best friend. You need to stop thinking about her.

But then I remember the treehouse.

We were thirteen,

A girl had walked up to me and slipped her hand into mine.

She called me pretty and I laughed in her face.

Marlene left school and I ditched gym and found her in our tree house.

I asked her why she was so upset and she says I should just kiss her. I didn't want to kiss that girl I wanted to kiss Marlene.

So I did.

It was slobbery and I had braces but it was a kiss, my first kiss.

I get into my car and Zeke follows, looking like it took him longer than most girls would take to get ready.

"Step on it, shank." He snaps.

"I'm not your personal driver, pansycake."

"Well I am older than you," he says smirking.

"By ten months," I mumble and start to the mall.

We get there and meet Shauna, Lynn, Marlene, Four, Tris, Will and Christina.

Zeke walks up to Shauna and kisses her on the cheek.

Marlene smiles at them and I stare at her.

I walk up to her.

"You look-" I would say beautiful or perfect or something, but she doesn't.

She doesn't look like the Marlene I love.

Christina touched her up a little, her outfit isn't hers.

"Different."

She nods and scans her outfit.

"Christina did my makeup," she sighs,
"I feel like a Kardashian."

"Well at least you don't act like one." I smile.

She wrinkles her nose.

What would happen if I just leaned in and kissed her?

We enter and the girls shop.

I see Marlene and Tris being dragged into Victoria secret by Shauna and Christina.

And Lynn running the in other direction.

I laugh.

Marlene breaks out of Shauna's grasp and starts to run but Christina grabs her by her jacket and pulls her in hell, I mean Victoria Secret.

A few moments later I see a sprinting Marlene come up to me.

She is out of breath and says, "we need to hide."

I nod and smile.

I pull her into the hallway that leads into the restrooms.

There's a janitor closet and I smirk at her.

"Uriah, no."

I try to open the door: locked.

I kick the door and it doesn't budge.
