We go to the movies, a week later.

Uriah turned the tapes into the school office. Peter was put in juvy and we threw a party in celebration.

Our group is getting more and more suspicious, seeing us have little flirting sessions.

We all sit down in seats to watch, dumb and dumber to.

The opening credits come on and I feel Uriah lacing his hand with mine and he moves it over to his knee.

Everyone eyes us and we stare at each other, trying not to show emotion.

Lynn grabs a bunch of popcorn and shoves it down her throat.

"Where's the fire," Uriah says, "you're going to be sick if you keep eating like that."

"Well I'm going to throw up anyway with you too making eye contact like that."

Uriah's face flushes.

"What?"

"Don't pretend like you two haven't been flirting, so how bout you two make out and get it over with."

Uriah looks shocked.

I glare at Lynn, cup his neck with my hand and pull his lips to mine.

We smile at each other.

I turn away to see everyone's reaction.

Tris stares her mouth open, popcorn on the floor.

Four laughs smacking Zeke on the arm, Zeke's smirking.

Shauna looks at the door worried and I look over to see Lynn storming out.

I get up and Uriah tugs on the sleeve on my sweater.

"I have to go after her." I tell him and he nods.

I run after her and meet her in the hallway.

It's he first day since November that it hasn't been snowing. But the air is still cold.

I grab her wrist, "what's wrong Lynn?"

"YOU NEVER THOUGHT TO TELL ME ABOUT YOU TWO."

"Well we never told anyone okay?"

She scoffs, "I'm you best friend and you didn't even seem to hint it to me."

"LYNN YOU ARE NOT MY BEST FRIEND. YOURE A TOTALLY DIFFERENT PERSON THEN THE ONE YOU WERE A FEW MONTHS AGO."

She looks like I just hit her in the stomach.

"You shut me out Lynn, what's your problem you can tell me. From now on no more secrets just tell me what's bothering you."

"I can't you'll never understand."

"No Lynn it's fine I can take it I swear I just don't want to wonder anymore."

She huffs, "Marlene, it's not something I can just tell anyone."

"I'm not anyone I'm your best friend. Your sister and I feel so far away from you, please I don't care what it is anymore I just can't live in the dark just wondering."

She runs up to me grabs my cheeks and kisses me.

I can't pull away, I'm shocked.

She runs, tears flowing down her face and gets into her car and I start to follow.
