It is the best weekend of my life.

Me and Marlene sneak kisses at each other every time we're alone.

Our hands make contact in little ways, making shivers go through me.

I want to touch her, hold her again, but I have to wait.

Once everyone leaves I go upstairs to grab a T-shirt I left.

I walk back down and Carrie is there.

She smiles at me.

I hug her.

"You kissed that girl," she says pulling away.

I stare at her wide eyed, "how'd you-?"

She shakes her head, "you've had this look on your face ever since you took Marlene up to the attic."

I smile a little.

Does it show that much?

I nod.

"Don't worry Uriah," she says dimples pinching the side of her cheeks, "your secret's safe with me."

I hug her and thank her.

I walk back and everyone is gone.

I sit in the front seat staring at Marlene.

I see her ears turn pink, through her pony tail.

"Why are you staring at me like that?"

I cup her cheeks and kiss her lightly on the lips.

She pulls away and smiles.

I tuck a piece of hair behind her ear.

I can't say I love her yet.

I've loved her forever.

But I know one thing,

I'm about to fall in love with Marlene Jefferson.

And I'm going to hold on to that thought for the rest of my life.
