"How long have you worked for her?" I asked Joon

"Awhile."

"Do you consider her a friend?"

He laughs.

"We have a professional relationship but she does come to me for advise when she's desperate. If you're wondering if I know what transpired between you and Ms. Manoban the answer is yes. Not everything but I know the gist of it."

"Oh. Okay."

I was hoping he would say what he did know so I would have some sort of guideline on what I can and can't say. What I can't and can't ask. I had some burning questions I want to ask but I don't want to pry. I don't want Lisa to feel like I'm meddling with her life or too afraid to ask her things I want to know. I know she would tell me everything except what I really want to know which is why she left a man for dead but Joon probably wouldn't know that or maybe he does.

"We have a long drive ahead of us and she's our common ground and even though she's an open book about most things there are some things I want to ask about her from someone besides her."

"I think I understand that."

"I don't know what or how much she told you but w-we, She.. I "

"Breathe."

He commands gently and I do. "Now ask me."

"Do you think she loves me?"

"Yes."

"How do you know?"

"You're the only one I've seen her with since the night you showed up at her club. She mentioned you. Nothing monumental but before you she never talked to me about the women in her life."

"What did she say about me?"

He said

"She said, "I've never met a women less interested in me than the woman I just met. A shame since I've never been more interested in someone in my life. Just my luck, since she's attached to someone else."

"I can't imagine what you must think of me."

"It doesn't matter what I think. What matters is that you made the best choice for you."

"Do you have a daughter?"

"Three."

"If one of them did what I did what would you say to her?"
