the man in the moon heard my plea.
as absurd as it seems, you y/n has always believed in the man in the moon.
whenever she feels sad or happy, she tells the man in the moon of her untold feelings and unknown stories.
she started believing when her older brother, you zhangjing, went missing. days turned to weeks. weeks turned to months. and months turned to years. upon searching around his room, she found this journal that contains all of zhangjing's ideas and that included the man in the moon.
that belief also sparked her interest to stars and galaxies and satellites. so, her walls were filled with such posters.

"today, another classmate of mine asked about the moon stickers that i put in my lockers. she asked why i was so fascinated about the moon. if only she knew that you are the reason why i loved the moon so much," you said as you walked down the road.
you swung by the convenience store to buy some snacks. usually, zhangjing would accompany you in nights like this. he always gets paranoid that you might get lost.
how ironic. you always nagged me about being lost yet you're the one who is missing. da ge, come back already.
"look who we got here. the nerdy girl who obsesses over the moon. really? do you just want attention for that?" your brute classmate was leaning on the wall near your house.
he cracked his knuckles as he walked near to you.
"say, give me that snacks or i'll punch the heck out of you," he said. you stumbled with your steps.
a sudden bright light shone on his face.
run! now! you heard a voice.
following the words, you ran all the way to your house. you locked every doors and windows of your house.
"that straight up scared me," you mumbled. you clutched your chest.
"that also freaking drained my energy."
you sat on the sofa as you sighed.
"you should've followed your brother's words, y/n. you shouldn't have went out late at night," a voice said. you held the remote (that's the nearest thing you have) when you stood up.
"who's there? show yourself!" you shouted as you pointed the remote in the shadows.
"what are you holding? is that a weapon?" a man said, who emerged from the shadows. the man's hair was silver and his eyes are beautiful. his clothes looked so plain yet elegant.
"how did you enter my house? who are you? what are you doing here?" you asked.
"take a breath y/n, you're panicking. i'm the man in the moon and we have always talked before."
***
you sat at the end of the sofa. the man in the moon stared at you.
"why y/n? are you still doubting me?" he asked.
"are you really the man in the moon?" you asked back.
"yes i am. didn't you just told me that a classmate of yours asked about the moon stickers in your locker? you even said that i was the reason you loved the moon," he answered while looking straight to your eyes.
he looked so ethereal. you felt the calmness that you always have whenever you stare out your window to talk to the man in the moon.
"are you sure you're the man in the moon? what's your name?"
he looked in his hands.
"it has been a while since someone asked for my name personally. i am lin yanjun, but you mortals call me the man in the moon."
your mouth became agape.
"so, you're the one who listens to me?"
"yes, i am. and i came down here on earth to accompany you. anyway, about your brother, he will come back as soon as peter lets him go."
"peter as in peter pan?"
"another yes. for now, let me accompany you and listen to your stories."
he held your hands in his and gently hugged you.
"don't worry, y/n. everything will be fine."
