Tw: death, abuse, mentions of self harm, scars, bullying, and  suicide attempt

Roman's POV:

"That works" The Voice agreed. Virgil was still shaking and crying but he pulled himself together. It wasn't much...but I could tell he's trying his best. Patton, Logan, and I could always tell that there was something up with his past, that's why we never pushed him to tell us. Something bad happened, we don't know what, but we could tell is was pretty bad to make him how he is now. He never really cared about himself.

Suddenly, the room somehow got darker and started lighting up again. More than it was before, but we weren't where we were before. I don't think. We were in what looked like a hospital room. There was a women on the bed and a baby next to her. Virgil was no longer there and the rest of us got up to get closer. The baby had purple hair...I think THAT was Virgil. But, his wings were white with light purple tips. The woman was turned away from him.

She wasn't asleep, she just couldn't bring herself to look at her own son. Then, the monitor started beeping as her hart rate started slowing down. Doctors came running in and baby Virgil started crying. The doctors just ignored him as they tried saving the women, but it was too late. A man came running in, the second he saw the lifeless body, he began to scream and cry violently. I'm assuming the man was her husband, Virgil's father.

There was this purple light and Logan, Patton, and I turned to the baby again. Baby Virgil's wings started to get darker as he cried in pain. That's how I knew it was Virgil. He told us about this...this is when he fell. Even his tears darkened until they were like how we knew them. An ink black. The father went up to the baby, but didn't sooth him. He just stared with anger and disgust clear in his eyes. Then, he just left.

The room darkened again and we found ourselves in some type of house. There was empty bottles everywhere, it was extremely dirty, and it reeked of alcohol. The man from the hospital came in, slamming the door, and yelled, "GET YOUR ASS DOWN HERE!" It scared all of us and Logan and I hugged Patton protectively. A young boy, around five, came running down. The boy was the baby, he's five year old Virgil.

"y-yes?" He asked when he was in front of the man. "What did I say about stuttering!" the man yelled. "y-....it's stupid and I should stop acting like a child" Young Virgil said looking down. STOP ACTING LIKE A CHILD!?! HE IS A CHILD!!! "YOU BROKE  A RULE!" the man screamed getting closer. Young Virgil stepped back, terrified. "I'm sorry! I promise I'll never do it a-again." He tried, but he stuttered at the end. The man visibly got more angry.

"LIER!" the man screamed pushing young Virgil to the ground. He got a bottle that was near him, lifted it up, then...it went dark. But we could still hear the screaming, glass braking, and pleading for him to stop. We found ourselves in a room next. It didn't exactly look like a normal room, but it was close enough. The door suddenly opened and a boy closed and locked it once he was inside. He feel to the floor, brought his knees to his chest, and started to uncontrollably cry in them.

The boy looked to be around ten and reminded me of when Virgil had that attack near the door. The boy was 10 year old Virgil. There was slamming on his door and the sound of glass breaking. It suddenly sped up and it kept going, in regular time it was probably hours. When it stopped, the slamming and breaking of glass was gone. Kid Virgil got up and went to a body mirror. He took off his shirt to reveal his wings but also many bruises, scars, cuts, and burns.

The saddest ones were the new ones on his wrists. The room went dark again and we found ourselves in a school hall. It was empty, classes were probably in session. A tween Virgil came running past us followed by three elder boys. We followed them to find the boys slamming tween Virgil into lockers. What happened in the house happened again. It went dark but we still herd what was going on. The lockers slammed, kids laughed, but there were no pleads to stop.

When it went light agin we were in a school bathroom. It was probably after the beat up. Tween Virgil stared in the mirror and finally let everything out. His eyes weren't red meaning he didn't dare cry during the beating. He looked to be in so much pain, but it wasn't physical. Even though he had bruises, it seemed like he was used to the physical pain. He finally calmed himself down and started applying makeup. When he was done, it looked like nothing happened.

He probably had a lot of practice hiding his injuries and crying sessions. That made all of us concerned even though by this time we were all crying. Logan had quiet tears running down his face and Patton was full on sobbing about to collapse. The next scene didn't help with that. We were in the same room we saw kid Virgil. This time, It was teen Virgil with a full pill bottle in his hands. He was crying as he unscrewed the bottle and downed half of it.

That made us all collapse. We knew it didn't work, we wouldn't have met him if it did. But seeing him try to...he must be in so much pain to actually try to go through with it. He laid on his back and started to close his eyes. He was almost dead...then the door burst open. The man we saw before ran in and made him throw up the pills. You would assume that he loved him to save him...but when teen Virgil regained his consciousness he was slammed to the wall.

"YOU THINK YOU COULD JUST DO THAT!!! MAKE MY LIFE HELL AND MISERABLE TO LIVE THEN JUST LEAVE! IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN YOU TO BEGIN WITH!!! BUT IT WASN'T! NOW YOU HAVE TO SUFFER!!!" The man screamed and slapped him. The room faded and we saw ourselves where we were with young Virgil. The Virgil we know now was Screaming with the man. "YOU CAN'T JUST LEAVE!!!" The man yelled.

"WHY THE FUCK SHOULD I STAY? YOUR AN ABUSIVE ASSHOLE! YOU ALWAYS USE THE EXCUSE THAT I MADE YOUR LIFE MISERABLE WHEN I DIDN'T EVEN ASK TO BE BORN! THAT WAS YOUR MISTAKE!!! BUT YOU ALWAYS TAKE IT OUT ON ME! YOUR LIFE ISN'T HELL, YOU NEVER KNEW HOW BAD IT COULD GET! BECAUSE OF YOU I DO!!! IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT! SHE'S DEAD BECAUSE OF YOU! YOU'RE THE ONE THAT DESERVES TO SUFFER!!!" Virgil screamed.

The man seemed shocked, we all were. We never saw Virgil this angry or shout this loud. It took a whole month to hear him talk above a whisper for god sake! The man tried to punch Virgil but he dodged. He probably had a lot of practice. The tables turned and Virgil punched the man to the ground. It was well deserved in my eyes. "I'm leaving and you can't stop me. If I ever see you again I will make you regret it." Virgil said in the most calm, cold, and intimidating voice I have ever herd.

He got a bag that was on the couch and walked directly near us. From the voice we just herd, his face didn't match it. When he turned around he took of that mask. He was tariffed and close to tears. But, he didn't let them fall. The room went dark and when it went light again, we weren't wherever the box put us. We were back in the living room. Virgil was in the farthest corner rocking back and forth. It hit us that he probably had to relive all that to show us.
