sorry I haven't updated this book in a year...ok that was bad bUt HAPPY 2020!!! AnYwAy!...back to your regularly scheduled programing...(This book barley updates regularly and it's definitely not scheduled but you get the point)
Logan's POV:
Classes were canceled today but we needed to do grocery shopping. Roman and I decided to do it. We left to the closest store but they were closed. That meant that we had to drive an extra 20 minutes to the other store. We finished our shopping and went back to our dorm. When we entered the first thing we saw were two black wings.
Roman gasped and dropped everything he was holding. Virgil's wings quickly folded and his head snapped to our direction. When he saw it was just us he sighed and his wings were shown again. This time, I noticed that they weren't all black. The tips were a dark purple. "Don't do that!" Virgil yelled. "Do what?" Roman asked when he knew what he did.
"Don't just gasp like that! You scared me half to death!" He explained. "Sorry...it's just...your wings...they're beautiful" Roman said. Virgil looked shocked for a second before responding. "Thanks." Roman nodded and picked up the things that he dropped. We went to the kitchen and put them away with the help of Patton. When we were done we went back to the living room.
We sat down on the couch. Once we were settled, Virgil started whatever Patton and him were watching before. We watched the movie in silence...or at least pretended too. We were all sneaking glances at Virgils wings. But, our attempts weren't sneaky enough. He caught all of us multiple times but said nothing. He did shift uncomfortably sometimes telling us we were staring too long.
The movie ended and we decided on playing a game. It was still fairly early and we all had our work done. We agreed to truth or dare because we didn't actually have board games. Patton told us that he was planning on changing that after finding out. The game itself wasn't boring but it wasn't eventful. We were building up for the hard ones for later.
Virgil always chose truth and the questions were mostly about his wings. There wasn't really anything else we could ask. There was one topic...but even Roman had the common sense not to bring it up. I don't talk about my father for a reason, so he hasn't told us anything about his family for a reason. I'm sure we could all sense that is wasn't good.
We learned that his wings are sensitive and basically have a mind of their own. Scientifically speaking, they don't. They just have instincts that they follow like humans do with their 'gut feeling'. But Roman and Patton like to think the first option is true. Who am I to break their dreams? We also learned that it hurt to hide them.
Virgil got asked and he, of course, chose truth. "Do you have a crush on someone?" Patton asked. Virgil went into thought before a look of realization hit his face and he blushed. He tried to hide it with his hoodie but it was too late. We all saw it. "I'LL TAKE THAT AS A YES!!! who is it?!?" Roman practically yelled.
I saw Virgil flinch a little but knew he didn't like it brung up in conversation so I kept my mouth shut. "That wasn't apart of the question..." Virgil mumbled. He was clearly embarrassed and Roman sighed in defeat. They would clearly bring this up later and I'm feeling a little bad for Virgil. I't was Roman's turn and he asked me.
It would do less damage to do truth so I went with that. "Do you have a crush?" I clearly spoke too soon. I'm not in touch with my feeling so I wouldn't know even if I did. "I don't know." I answered truthfully. "what do you mean?" Patton asked. "ya, it's a yes or no question" Roman included. "I mean what I said. Feelings aren't my thing." I told them.
They let me pass with that and we continued the game. But then came the time I'm sure Virgil was regretting. "Who's your crush?" Roman asked. Virgil went bright red but stayed silent. "you have to tell us" Patton teased. "Fine!...he's really creative, could sing, obnoxious at times, loves all things, innocent, smart, and doesn't understand some things at times..." he mumbled.
"that's not a name" I pointed out. "Roman didn't specify that I had to say a name. Technically, I told you who he was because I told you his personality." Virgil replied. Roman and Patton sighed in defeat while I was impressed. "that's....actually a good point...I didn't think about it like that" I told him. He gave me a little smile while nodding.
Once again, the game continued before Patton and Roman tried one more time. Virgil never stopped picking truth. "What's your crushes name?" Patton asked. Virgil went into thought before saying, "Rolopat" "That's clearly a fake name!" Roman said exasperated. "You need to learn how to specify your questions. You said nothing about nicknames." he defended.
"Why do you chose truth if you're not going to tell us the truth!?!" Patton playfully wined. "It's not a lie either." I brought to their attention. That's when it hit me...it's basically apart of what he is! "It's a loophole" I thought out loud. We all looked at him and he chuckled. "Did you forget I was once an angel? Loopholes come naturally to them, meaning me" he told us.
"...we're never going to know your crush, are we?" Roman said a little disappointed. "I don't know why you even want to know, but you aren't" Virgil answered him. "what if they said 'what is your crushes real name'?" I asked. "People have more than one name. I could use his middle name." Virgil told us. Roman and Patton sighed.
"what about...'what's your crushes real first name'?" I asked again. "I could tell you an old crush. You need to be more specific than that." he told me. The rest of the day was spent trying to make the sentence more specific. But he always found a loophole. We finally gave up when we couldn't think of a way to make the sentence more specific. We all went to bed knowing that if he didn't want knowledge getting out, it wasn't.
