Chapter 4
*Calley*
After Zayden left I was sent straight to my bedroom. I told my mom that it wouldn’t make any difference; that I’d just go anyway. And she told me that if I valued my life I wouldn’t go. I decided to leave after my parent’s fell asleep. I do value my life, believe it or not. But there were a few things I needed to think about first.
Number one: The fact that Zayden is, and I’m almost positive, a ghost. I would keep it a secret. Basically because I liked seeing all the teachers at our school so flustered. Two: The Kiss, as I am labeling it. The Kiss was different from all the ones I had before. But, who am I to judge that type of thing?
I eventually heard my mom snoring and my dad talking on the phone in their room. Safe enough. I Shape-Shifted into a mouse so I could get down the stairs quietly and then changed back so I could lock the door when I left.
Liz was already waiting for me. She shook her head like she was disappointed in me, but the giant smile on her face said otherwise. I had called her right after I got sent to my room and told her about everything that had happened with Zayden.
“Well, let’s get going,” I said, “The Humans will have no idea what hit them.”
Liz giggled and nodded. She shape-shifted into a wolf and howled. Instead of taking on my normal panther form I shape-shifted into another wolf and howled along with Liz. She smiled at me in her wolf form and we took off running.
Under the cover of the woods I turned into a bear and Liz turned into a giant rattlesnake. I roared and tried to stop myself from laughing, because a giant bear laughing wouldn’t look too natural.
I walked into the town and growled at a little girl who screamed. She ran off and people came running out. Then Liz came slithering out of her hiding spot and everyone ran away, screaming. I roared and then I heard the sirens. Not good.
Liz slithered behind me and changed back to her human Form. I quickly changed back.
“Fucking Animal Control. Getting mixed up in our fun game.” I growled.
“You’re hair is brown,” Liz told me.
“I’ll fix it later.”
We both took off running back to Liz’s house. When we got back she let us in and we went up to her room. She sat on her bed and combed some snakeskin out of her hair. I changed my hair back to blonde.
“I hate rushed transformations,” she muttered, slightly drawing out her s’ like a talking snake might do. “I still can’t get them right!”
“Your tongue is still forked,” I whispered. “And I’m getting better.”
“Best in the class,” Liz said, making her tongue go back to normal. “Anyway, new guy?”
“Zayden,” I corrected, absentmindedly.
“Right,” Liz said, playfully rolling her eyes. “Zayden. What’s up with him and you? He kissed you, and you liked it. Are you two going out?”
I shook my head and scrunched up my nose in disgust. “Ugh, no.”
“And he’s a Ghost! So rebellious!”
Alright, I told Liz about Zayden. But she’s my best friend! She’d never tell anyone. Especially since I made her swear it on her personal Form. And Liz and I took those type of swears quite literally. A personal Form swear means that we could never use our personal Form- so, wolf for her and panther for me- ever again.
“Whatever. It’s not much different from you and Brandon.”
Liz blushed. Brandon was her were-wolf boyfriend. Her parents didn’t want her going out with anyone other than another Shape-Shifter. I had sworn not to tell. Why would I? She and Brandon were so cute together! Hey, just because I’m magical doesn’t mean that I don’t go through the normal teenage phases.
“He’s in our Weaponry class you know,” Liz said. “Oh wait, you wouldn’t know because you totally ditched school today? Care to tell me why?”
“Wait, wait, wait, just a minute,” I said, “Back up. Zayden is in our Weaponry class?”
“Uh, duh,” Liz said. “Now where did you run off to today?!”
“I went to the park,” I said.
“No you didn’t,” Liz said. “Because I checked there during lunch. Though I did catch a very good tasting mouse. But… is it strange that Allison didn’t turn up after lunch?”
I giggled. Allison was my worst enemy. I had seen her after school; Liz was just trying to be funny. And she was. Allison’s Form was a mouse, which had caused Liz and I to nickname her ‘The Rat’.
“Okay, I went into the human town for a little while. As a human of course. And I ended up at a fair! The food was so good, you wouldn’t believe it! I never wanted to leave!”
Liz sighed. “Lucky. My mom would kill me if I did that.”
I nodded. “I don’t plan on telling my mother.”
“And I suppose I should tell you, The Rat was totally flirting with Zander.”
“Zayden!”
“Right, Zayden.”
I laughed and sat down on Liz’s desk chair. I spun around a few times before stopping and staring at the clock. 3:18 A.M.
“I should be going,” I muttered. “See you tomorrow.”
“You mean you’re actually going to show up at school tomorrow?” Liz gave a theatrical gasp. “Whaaaaat?!”
I nodded and smirked. “I would love to give Zayden a little ‘Welcome to School’ present tomorrow in Weaponry. I may need a little help from, well, everyone we can get.”
Liz gave me a mischievous smiled and whipped out her cell phone. “Why wait until tomorrow to start gathering troops?”
I narrowed my eyes and pulled out my own cell phone. “What were you thinking?”
“I’m thinking everyone in the class against Zander.”
I sighed and smiled. I don’t think she would ever get Zayden’s name, no matter how many times I told her. “I’m thinking that we shouldn’t stop there. What about everyone in the school against poor little Zayden?”
“I think we have a plan.”
I high-fived her and we started dialing our cell phones. Every time someone picked up, which was surprisingly a lot, we told them our plan and they said that they would be there and that they would call everyone they knew too.
Tomorrow was not going to be the best day for Zayden.

A/N: Okay. First off, an excuse. Number one: School. Stupid science fair project! Number two: Lazyness. (That excuse will be making many appearances.). Okay, Liz forgetting Zayden’s name is just a little joke between Doglover98 and I. Ask either of us about it, I dare you! Nothing much else to say. And now, I bid you, Hasta la Pasta!
