A few days later...

"So wait, he showed up, at your house? Then spent the night, and left before you woke up?" Veronica takes a giant bite of her hash-browns moaning at the taste.

"Jesus when's the last time you ate?" I laugh. "And yeah, I haven't seen him since the storm. Maybe I did something that he didn't like, maybe I had another night terror and he panicked and left."

She glares at me point the dork in my direction.

"Bullshit. That boy likes you, trust me. He's not the type to fuck and run. Anyways he kept his pants on," she rolls her eyes at me.

"Enough about me, how's the bar?" I stir around the melting ice in Pepsi.

She mumbles a few incoherent words. "Not good, we've been so busy recently, and James quit so now I have to take double shifts which is a living nightmare," she takes another huge bite, but of her eggs this times. "I haven't had time to eat or sleep properly."

That would explain why she's been so tired and why she's basically inhaled her food in five minutes.

"Hey, I'm free, maybe I can help for a few weeks. Until you can find a replacement for James, and you don't even have to pay me," i sip my drink.

She drops her fork staring bewildered at me.

"You, you would do that for me?!"

"Yes, of course. You're my best friend V, I'd do anything for you," I grab her hands squeezing them gently. "When's the next shift? I'll start right away, I want you to go home and relax, sleep, go to the spa, do anything  that will help you relax."

"Thank you B, you're the best. The next shift is around six," she squeezes my hand in return. "I love your."

"Excuse me-" I turn around to find myself face to face with Jughead. "Oh, Betty, I didn't know you work here."

"I don't," I reply bitterly not even explaining why I'm here.

"Can I get some whiskey?" He gives me a sad smile tapping his fingers nervously against the wood counter.

"Sure," I mumble pouring him some of our (Veronica's) finest whiskey.

"Hey can I get another round of shots?" A younger guy stands next to Jughead stool giving me a boyish smile.

"Sure," I smile back at him quickly pouring the glasses.

"Do you work here?" He asks running a hand through his brown, fluffy hair.

"Oh no, just helping a friend out," I laugh handing the tray of shots to him. "Enjoy."

"Thank you, I hope I see you around," he tilts his head forward his hair falling in front of his eyes.

Jughead watches me as I serve a few more customers

"Are you just going to stare at me the whole time?" I huff.

"Sorry, it's just, uh. I want to apologize," he takes a huge gulp of his second or third glass of whiskey.

"For?" I slide a glass down to a older woman.

"For leaving," he sighs.

"Mhm," I mumble wanting to take a large sip of the very tempting glass of vodka that was now in my hand.

Rule number four: if working, one will not be influenced under alcohol, drugs, or anything that might be harmful towards someone, or you.

A while later Reggie appeared from his office holding a box of what I assumed was documents.

"I'll close up, thank you for doing this Betty," he smiles down at me.

"Its not a big deal," I glare at Jughead that was slumped over leaning on his arms clearly wasted. "I'll take him home, I live next door."

"Alright, drive safe," he smiles disappearing.

I hang up my apron feeling eyes on me. I glance back at Jughead to see him staring in admiration at me.

"What?" I mumble walking around towards him.

"I just can't wrap my head around how beautiful you are," he slurs wrapping a strong arm around my waist pulling me in between his legs.

His breath fans my face the foul stench of alcohol reeks around me.

"Come on," I try my best to pull him up. He doesn't budge, he leans forward inhaling.

"You smell so good," he whispers pressing a kiss against my collar bone.

"Come on, get up," I pull him towards me pulling him into my car.

I push him into the passenger's seat closing the door behind him, I walk around sliding into the drivers seat.

"I have a secret to tell you," he pokes my nose. "But you can't tell Betty, promise me you won't tell Betty."

"Okay, I won't tell Betty," I smile in amusement as I start the engine.

"I really like her, and that scared me, that's why I left her before she woke up," he whispers leaning over the console.

I purse my lips staring at him. He tried to kiss me but I put a strong hand on his chest pushing it lightly. I shake my head. He pouts leaning back in his chair. I pull out of the driveway, driving off towards Jughead's and my house.

"Can I have your keys?" I stick one hand out towards him.

"Hmm, I don't know," he yawns tiredly leaning against the window.

"Come on don't you want to sleep in your nice-comfortable bed?" I glance at him before turning back to the road.

"Fine," he sighs digging in his pocket for keys he puts them in my hand closing his eyes.

The rest of the ride home it was quiet except for the soft snores from Jughead.

"Come on big-boy," I grab onto his skill set lifting him up so he puts a little bit of weight on me.

He groans as I drag him into his house. I pull him into his room, he dives into the bed not even moving an inch.

"Jug," I shake him, but he doesn't budge.

I get on the bed pushing him so he's on his back. He's out cold. I unzip his pants taking them off, I take his shirt off throwing it somewhere in the room. I put my hand on his cheek running the my thumb over the slight stubble that had started to grow.

"Goodnight," I make a move to kiss him but he opens his eyes pulling me against his chest. Why won't you let me kiss you? "Jug, I need to go," I mumble trying to wiggle out of his grip.

"Stay, please," he whispers his voice hoarse. "Please don't go," his voice even softer.

"Okay," wiggle to make myself comfortable. "Goodnight."

"Goodnight Betty," he wraps his arms around my waist pulling me flush against him.
