R O S E B U D
Dinner was absolutely exquisite. We all sat a long, glass table. Abaddon and I at the head, me in his lap of course, Bucchas sat to the left and a few other of Abaddon's trusted visors around us. Then the rest of the table was filled with about twenty different men and women I haven't been introduced to yet. Everyone was bustling with laughter and speaking, even Abaddon was talking to Bucchas.
Servants brought out many different delicious smelling plates and set them on the table. The plates, too, were glass and thick, which an elegant uniqueness to them. The smell wafted to my nose and I moaned in delight. It smelled so delicious.
The lids were pulled from the trays, and instantly it seemed as if hundreds of different kinds of meats and fruits and vegetables was revealed. I tried not to scrunch up my nose at the meat, but out of habit, my body recoiled from the sight. The chatter from the table came to a halt, and all eyes were on either Abaddon or I, it instantly made me shrink back a little.
Abaddon's hands rubbed my back, and he leaned in close. Ever since our disagreement earlier, he has been a little touchy.
"My little Rose, what would you like?" He whispered in my ear, his breath tickling my neck. I thought for a second, pointing towards the pepo fruit, and getting him to pick out a few potatoes.
"Is this all for now?" Abaddon asks, once he gets the confirmation from me, he nods to everyone else, and life was back in the table. Everyone was tearing into the meat and scarfing down the food. I quietly nibbled on the pepo, nervously looking around. A woman to my left, dressed in armor with a scar running down her cheek was staring at me intently.
I snap my head forward, avoiding her questioning gaze. My heart started racing faster.
"Descentus, do you have a reason as to making my mate nervous?" Abaddon asks, stopping the conversations at the table, once again. The woman, who I guess is Descentus, doesn't flinch at Abaddon's accusing tone.
"I have a question for the Queen, your majesty," she says, her voice void of emotions. Her aura seemed okay, no anger or hatred. Although I do sense some sadness, which surrounds her scar. I'll have to talk to her about that later.
Abaddon tightens his hold on my hip, growls barely being held back. I smile shyly at the warrior.
"Yes ma'am?" As the words tumbled out of my mouth, she seemed taken aback by me. She quickly recovers and looks at Abaddon for a second before returning her gaze back to me.
"Do you," she seemed to hesitate, as if I would get angered, "do you not eat meat my Queen?" I blinked at her, my heart slowing down. I thought she was gonna ask me something hard.
"Rarely. My culture and species has been centered around not eating meat, but only vegetables and fruits, but my mother always let me eat what I want," I explain, nervously fiddling with my hands, "I guess it was just habit not to grab the meat, would you like me to eat some?" I ask confused.
She seemed alarmed at my question, "no! If you don't wish to eat meat, you don't have to. I just didn't know if you were allergic, or if we were offending you by eating it. I wanted you comfortable," she explained. I smiled softly and didn't reply, just studying her aura. She seemed so hard on the exterior but I could already tell she was a big teddy bear.
Dinner went by quickly, I was quietly having a conversation with Descentus. I learned quite a lot of her culture. Turns out, she is a Pixie Nymph, but having grown up in a difficult situation, she relied on violence instead of love, which led her to Abaddon. I could see the similarities between her and the Pixie Nymphs. She had long, very long, pointed ears, tucked behind her golden hair which was in braids down her back. She has very dark skin, with golden spots covering her arms and shoulders.
"Descentus, do you mind keeping my little Rose company while I attend to some matters?" Abaddon asks, rising to his feet. As soon as he stood, every single person at the table rose as well. Descentus rose also, coming to my side, her height towering over me.
"Of course, my King," she curtsies, and loops her arm through my arm, "Come, we are going to stay in my headquarters until the King is finished," she recites. I giggle and lean up to kiss Abaddon's cheek before leaning my head on Descentus's shoulder and following her through the castle. I could feel good atmosphere's in this kingdom.
Descentus stopped at a brown door, the numbers 3835 carved into a golden plaque. She opened the door, allowing me to enter first. There was a pretty modern looking bed, something I'm not quite used to. Back in the forest, I enjoyed making nests in the trees and sleeping there.
"This is where I stay," Descentus awkwardly watches me as I curiously peek around her room. My feet drag me over to her dresser which had many photos, all of her and a little boy. Something was missing.
Her scar. These pictures were before she had the scar. She looked so happy.
"That was my son," she stares sadly. I blink confused.
"Was?" She sighs, picking up the photo and running her finger down the picture.
"He died three years ago, he was only eight years old," she explains. Her voice was thick with despair.
"No," I state. Before I could explain, she looked angered.
"Not was," I rear back a little, cautiously, "he is still your son, whether he is here or not and will always be," I continue. I could feel him. His presence was surrounding us, wrapping around her body. While she had a red aura, his was a beautiful baby blue, mixing into a rich purple.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" I continue to study her, running my hand through her hair. She almost tense at my touch.
"He's here with you," I whisper, watching as a hand like figure wrapped around her arm.
Before I could investigate any further, it disappeared. I vigorously blink out of my haze, giving Descentus a small smile. She just looks at me strangely.
"Now, about that scar," I giggle.
