"Artemis! What do you expect us to do? He's out of control." Zeus growls, leaning back against his council chair. His finger tips impatiently tap against the arm. Artemis, the Goddess of the moon, just continued to plead, staring down every last cou...

"The council has been waiting for you Rose, why were you way out here?" My mom scolds, pulling me faster away from the clearing. I could feel his eyes watch me as we walked away.
"I-I" I stutter out, trying to think of an excuse without revealing the man. I felt possessive over him. I didn't want to tell my mother about him because she would take me away the second she heard about how he made me feel and the word he called me.
Mate.
What is a mate? Why did he call me it? So many questions raced through my head.
"Never mind, let's just get back to town. Your training is going to start as soon as we get there." As soon as she said those words, it was like a dam broke.
I felt everything around me again. The trees, plants. The animals. Everything. I heard the slight rustle of a bunny a mile away. I felt the wind course through the air, blowing my hair wild.
The croaking of the frogs were in sinc with the beat of my heart. It was like they could suddenly feel my emotions.
"Come Rosebud, we must hurry." My mother impatiently walks faster. We finally reached the small village, the sun was slowly setting. The sky turning from a beautiful shade of blue to a deep orange. A delicate, blue bird landed on a branch ahead, shaking the tension out of their exhausted wings.
"Rosebud! I'm council woman Abrith, it's very nice to meet you ! I will be guiding you towards your duties as an Elemental," beside me, another Elemental bowed humbly. She was an old, frail looking woman with silver hair reaching her thighs. Her loose fitting black dress showing her status in the village.
"P-Please, rise. There is no reason to bow, really," I stamper, my cheeks heating up at her attention. I grab onto her forearms and help her to her feet. She comes up with a grin, patting my cheek lightly.
"I just wanted to see your reaction hun, don't get flustered." She laughs, her eyes wrinkling at the act.
"Please, follow me. We are going to the Donsiel. It is our sacred room that will allow us privacy and complete isolation." She takes me hand, shooing my mom away, and guiding me towards the looming building.
The town was bustling with noise, activities, and children. None of which were paying attention to us. My mother faded into the background and I was left alone with this woman. This Elemental.
"So tell me doll, who is he?" She pipes up , smirking at me over her shoulder. I sputter out a response, trying to rack my brain on a way she would ever find out about HIM. How did she know?
"I-I don't know who 'he' is." I stutter, glancing away guiltily. Her gaze burned holes in the side of my face.
"Hun, I can smell him all over you. Sense his aura invading your sweet, innocent self. No need to lie, I can keep a secret. So, who is your mate?" She chuckles, opening the door in front of us. We enter a lounge room full of couches, candles, and thousands of herbs and plants hanging on the wall.
"I-I don't even know him. I don't know what a mate is either. I'm really scared!" I burst, spilling me secret to her. She looks a little startled by my outburst but manages to compose herself.
"Well, dear, a mate is a forever. Does that help at all?" She asks, tilting her head to the side with a thoughtful look on her face. I sigh, shaking my head confused.
"Well," she shrugs, "he'll explain it to you. Do you know his name? Species?" She throws out questions after question, plopping herself down on one of the couches. Her bright green eyes sparkle in amusement as she watched me clumsily fall into the couch.
My cheeks burned with embarrassment at her gaze.
"I-I don't know his species but his name is Abaddon." Tingles ran through my body at the mention of his name.
She froze and slowly turned towards me, "w-wait-"
I cut her off, "and he wants me to meet him tonight!"
"Rosebud, I need you to tell me where you met him." She takes ahold of my hands, staring me in the eyes.
"I-I," her grip becomes tighter, pulling me more into her embrace.
"Rosebud! This is serious. Tell me all you know." Tears welled up in my eyes as she shook me.
"I-I don't know!" I cried, trying to pull away from her. Her fingertips digging into my wrists. As soon as she realized she was hurting me, she released my arms.
"I'm so sorry Rosebud. I-I didn't realize I was hurting you." She rubs the irritated skin softly.
"Let's just get started and we will talk about Abaddon after, ok?" She coos, petting the side of my hair. I sniffle, nodding my head, and shifting my body towards hers.
"Ok, let's start with healing. Show me what you know."
. . . . .
"You did good today Rosebud, I'm proud of you." She hugs me. I return her hug with exhausted arms. My whole body feels drained.
By the time we were done, you could tell hours have passed by the slight change in the sky. All the lights of the village coming to life.
"Tomorrow, come back at the same time and we will work on some other things." She pats my head before shooing me off.
Off to see this mystery man that calls me mate...
