R O S E B U D
"Rose, baby, get away from there. It's dangerous." My mother's sweet voice calls out to me, luring me away from the edge of the cliff. I couldn't tear my gaze away from the view. There was a mountain, surrounded by green. Tall trees and exotic waterfalls fell from the side of the mountain.
"Rosebud, get back." My mother called again. I just looked back at her with a whine. I just wanted to explore considering this was my first time ever being up in the mountains. I wanted to meet the fellow Avariel (Earth Elves) folk that lived down here.
I don't get to travel much. Mother said it is because I am special and it's too dangerous for me to travel. Today is an exception because there are practices that I am supposed to learn. To help me control the elements better.
I am what all elf folk call an Elemental. I have been blessed by the Goddess of the Moon, Artemis, to be able to manipulate all elements.
"Please Rose, we will go meet the rest of the village later. I made this picnic and it's a beautiful day. Eat with me." She reassures, pulling out a few Mangalo and Peopo fruit. I give the view one last longing look before trudging over to her. She laid down a few Banana Tree leaves for us to sit on.
Patting beside her, she takes a bite out of some of the fruit, "sit." Reluctantly, I do as she says, and sit down, grabbing a piece of Mangalo. Juicy flavor explodes in my mouth as I dig into the delicious food.
"Thank you Mama," I mumble, wiping my mouth with the bottom of my skirt. My clothes were sculpted and hand-made by the women in my village. It was flow-y and easy for me move around in, especially in combat. My top covered my bust and a small hood was hooked onto the back. The outfit was a light shade of purple.
I had jewelry that was gifted to me by my grandmother hanging around my neck and bands across my wrists. The skirt had slits going up my legs in multiple places so I could move around easily.
"We will be meeting some of the Elf council, there is a lady who can help you. She is also an elemental." Mother smiles, staring off into the trees.
"How long will we be staying?" I question. She just shrugs before replying.
"A few days, maybe." We sit in silence, just snacking on fruit until we are full. Birds chirp and the wind blows. It was peaceful. I could feel the stares of all the animals that were hiding deep in the forest. As Elves, we have very strong connections with all living organisms, including animals.
We can't speak to the animals, but we can feel their emotions and desires. If they feel like they are in danger, we can feel it. Happiness, sadness, fear. All of it. It is quite an exhilarating experience. A scream followed by a laugh echoed the canyon-like area, making my excitement to meet knew people grow. I couldn't sit still with anticipation, my hands clutched onto my clothing.
"Please may I go, Mother?" I beg, giving her a pouty look. Her gaze softens as she nodded, waving me off. I couldn't contain my squeal, jumping up with a wide grin.
