The bright stars in the night sky know you well
Not as well as I do, but they see your eyes,
The way they sparkle like the ocean's swell
Ah, I know your smile, better than a big prize.
They don't know your voice and your joyful laugh,
Like I do. Or the way our hands lock together
Fires burning in my heart, no longer in half.
Or how it felt, being as light as a feather.
They did not know what we had, that undying love
Like small embers in the darkness, we flew
Higher than any bird, prettier than a dove.
O, I gave everything had gained, even made, to you.
Until it all shattered, my heart following
The stars they knew who he was, but I didn't listen
