Butterfly tattoo on my wrist
Come on up and give me a kiss
I could have saved you.
From the whirling madness inside of you
But I was too busy trying to save myself.
Butterfly tattoo on my wrist
Seems like I can hear the flapping of its wings
And see the blood spilling out
At the edge of my angry blade.
Tracing and tracing
A thin black line
on my cracked skin
Curved like the smile on your lips.
A face that I once knew like the back of my hand
But somedays I can't even see my skin
Through the veil of rain.
heart made of glass
now stained red
and if you listen carefully
you can hear the soft cracking.
Butterfly tattoo on my wrist
I could have saved you
But I was too busy trying to save myself.
