Ourselves

Human beings are selfish. We're selfish with our desires, our needs, our hopes, and we always want to be someone who we know we're not to impress someone else...

The longer you pretend, the more it hurts. The longer you hide, the more lost you become. The longer you're quiet, eventually you'll forget how to use your voice. But when all of it becomes quiet, and we're alone in our rooms, only our thoughts screaming at us. That's who we are. We're no longer trying to impress anyone, we're just trying to survive being ourselves.

And then it happens. You wake up, you get ready, and you hide your true self from the world again, this time it retreats deeper. Rinse, repeat, and the cycle continues.

But... what if, there was no one to impress? What if we were happy with ourselves? Man that'd be amazing.

Though, the reason why we don't, I think is because we're afraid.

Men and women afraid of their superiors at their jobs, because if they talk out of turn, or disagree, then they'll run the risk of being fired. Children afraid of being themselves to their parents because of what their parents might think.

It always comes down to how we feel about someone else's opinion. Maybe because we over exert ourselves on it so much is why we feel so suffocated, so trapped within ourselves and our own society...

There's always a lot on the line, but how we chose, or not chose to be ourselves within the midst of it speaks volumes of our character.

Why not think about what you think about yourself, and how you want to help impact other people?

Easier said than done... but it'll be worth it.
