Tall trees loomed over the shrubs and other plant life. Leaves formed a canopy, letting only cracks of sunlight in. Roots arching over each other creating a weaving trap for travelers. Old oak tree branches stably make homes for more avian creatures. Except for this time, something or someone is a resident. The male was currently unconscious, hanging from a very high branch. The wind blew and made Orrin shutter, then waking up. His eyes fluttered open and looked up to see his current predicament.
"AAAAAAAAAH, HOLY SH-"
Orrin flailed around, nearly falling. He used his upper body to pull himself up but failed because of pure panic. A branch was just slightly out of his grasp, he would have to shuffle a bit though... Orrin swung himself back and extended his arm to reach the available branch. The tree shook slightly, Orrin grasped the branch and swung over to the neighboring tree. The branch that once held him broke off and fell down to the mossy floor. Orrin sat on the tree, "What the hell we gonna do...now." Too scared to climb down and jumping is out of the question, how was he going to get down.
After a few minutes of contemplating if he should just jump down Orrin herd a voice from below. He couldn't quite make it out but it said, "Do you need a hand up there?" Orrin yelled back "Yeah, kinda got myself stuck up here..." Orrin looked down to figure out the noise but was cut off by a gust of wind and a flurry of tree leaves. Next to him now was a blonde male around his age. On his back was an elegant pair of wings, one gold the other black paired with a halo. Orrin just stared 'd-did I die? Holy sh** I'm dead'.
"Am I dead? Your an angel right, so that means I'm surely dead?!"
The blonde tilted his head, "What? No your not dead, you're just in a tree yah loon."
"I'm not crazy!"
"How did you get up here?"
Orrin thought about the actual reason why he ended up on the tree but he rather not let his only help think he's crazy.
"I climbed, and got stuck..." he lied. The blonde shrugged and stood on the branch both were residing and reclined his wings, both arms stretched outwards. He grabbed Orrin's hand and jumped off the branch. Unholy screaming followed. Instead of a harsh splat against the floor, Orrin gazed up to see him being carried by hand. Weaving through the trees and its various shrubs. After there descend Orrin was finally reunited with the ground, never before has he been so happy to see dirt.
"Ahhh, the sweet sweet earth. Oh have I missed you~" Orrin rubbed the dirt with his hands, he then hears trailing away. Orrin followed the leaving steps.
"H-hey! What's your name," Orrin walked next to the hybrid.
"Oh right, The name is Akkuma Luca Kuiry. I'm in the guardian class, what about you pinky?"
"Well first its Orrin Mores, and I don't know what you mean by class"
Akkuma stopped in his tracks, "you don't know what class you are?! You must be new here... let's go get you signed up."
Orrin was a bit confused (like always) "Signed up for what?" Akkuma wrapped his arm around the boy's shoulder, "The Hero sign-ups! Its how most of us Arcadians do around here. Say, you look like a mage or a wizard"
"Really, a wizard?"
Akkuma nodded, he lifted his index finger "Just this way is the city! That's where your gonna get your class information." The duo walked to the indicated direction, 'today is just weird, I hope Megan is alright.'
"Oh, Akkuma I have a question...whats an 'Arcadian'?"
Akkuma stopped dead in his tracks and gasped dramatically then placed a hand on his chest, "how do you NOT know what an Arcadian is? Are you even from here?!" Orrin connected his index fingers, Akkuma sighed and grabbed one of the Golden rings on his head. He then pulled the halo in opposite directions and it started to project a static blue screen in the center. With one swipe the static image hovered just barely before Orrin's nose. Orrin couldn't believe it, he's never seen technology just like this ever! What other stuff could this new world have...?
"Let's start our history lesson! But unlike my many grueling teachers I'm gonna make this fun! Let's start from the beginning...you better get comfortable." Orrin followed and sat on a mossy log, pretty comfy.
The halo mesh showed clouds, then winged humans standing on the clouds having a peaceful conversation. "This is Arbor, the central meeting place and homes of all angels, including yours truly." The image changed, now showing a woman with long golden hair, skin paler than the clouds, her eyes were covered with a weird black cloth. Orrin just stared at her, "wow, she's pretty..."
"Eh...she's not that bad, plus she's like, eons old."
"Who is she?"
"That's our divine matron Elizabeth, the prime example of angels everywhere. Head in charge and founder of the 'Redemption' movement, she's a real doll kek."
"What's the 'Redemption' moveme-"
Akkuma quickly changed the slide to a picture of a map of an unknown location, "this is our town Arcadia, all Angels are required to protect an Arcadian, which is the name of the people!" Orrin wanted to ask why he ditched his question, but that would be rude we aren't that close yet anyway so it could have been personal.
"Arcadia was formed because of an agreement with Elizabeth and the dark queen Shino, she lives beyond the earth crust deep into the Netherlands. Shino promised to not steal the souls of the people if Elizabeth gave up her wings, so she did." Next was a display case covered in dark matter and red roots snaking across the glass," Shino keeps Elizabeth's wings as a sort of medal, flaunting it around like a child. God, she's annoying."
The projection shuddered thus closing itself back into its halo, Akkuma places it back floating position. Orrin sat there dazed, he had a lot of questions about Arcadia but decided to just stand up and say "That was some history lesson heh.."
