I reached home ,took a shower and started getting ready for meeting the guys at the diner. I wasn't planning on going but, Flynn was very persistent and I couldn't say no to the child like face he made at me.
So here I was in front of Pirates & Roses again, waiting for the guys.
Alec and Flynn were the first to come, Flynn waved at me like a maniac and I couldn't help but laugh.
We were joined by Mason and Tyler soon after and we took a booth inside.
I was sitting between Mason and Flynn and Tyler and Alec were seated in front of us, talking about something secretively.
"l'm really sorry man, I didn't mean it." Mason said.
"O really? Then why were you driving so close to where the squirrels were eating?" Asked Flynn.
"Because that was my lane, Flynn. They were eating in the middle of the road!" Mason explained throwing his hands in the air.
"You humans, You think you could just barge in their homes, build concrete jungles and expect the rightful owner of the place to do what? Jussss... just not eat at their regular eating spots?" Flynn argued.
"Your dad is a builder, Flynn." Alec decided to jump in the conversation.
"I didn't kill it man, They got out of the way just in time." Mason reasoned.
And Tyler decided to join him "I don't understand why no one mentioned that he is also, a human."
We all continued consoling Flynn for a good half an hour, while waiting for our food and Alec and Tyler continued talking secretively.
The food arrived and Flynn was finally distracted, as he started digging in the fries.
Suddenly Alec spoke aloud "What are we gonna do now? When he's already in?" He meant it for Tyler but was too loud.
The expressions on their faces fell, when they realised that they have an audience.
"What are you guys talking about?" I asked.
"Ummm, I don't know how to say this."
"We were thinking about telling you."
They all started to speak at once.
Just then, Megan walked in and settled in with Tyler.
"Hey guys, Sorry for being late. I had to feed the cat. Ugh!"
"Can someone tell me What is it, Anyone? Megan?" I asked her.
"Today, your boyfriend showed up at practice and the coach says he's part of the team now." Alec barked at me.
"Hey, he's not her boyfriend." Mason said.
"What are you talking about? The trials aren't even scheduled yet." Megan said, she was as clueless as me in this matter.
"We appreciate your update." Flynn said.
"Shutup Fly." said Megan.
"I told you not to call me that." Flynn said.
"Whatever, Pretzel." Megan said referring to Flynn's surname 'Preston'.
"You are a mean, mean woman." Flynn said innocently.
"Wait, What do you guys mean? How's he already in the team without the trials?" I asked them.
"Well, he was the Captain at Maxwell. It's not like he needed the trials." Tyler explained.
"Not to forget that Callum comes from a very influential family of this town. Everyone knows the Westons. I've heard that his dad has good connections with Principal Matthew." Mason continued.
"Not that he needs his Dad. Coach Levin was very excited to have him. He was on cloud nine when he found out Callum was transferring." Flynn added.
"I bet he was more happy about Callum's transfer than Callum himself." Tyler said.
"As if that wasn't enough, he is now challenging Alec's captainship." Said Mason.
"I know my team, man. No one would prefer him over Alec." Flynn said.
"That's not the point. The thing is now we've a wannabe captain in the team. He would be a problem for me. He would want to do things his way." Alec shot back.
"We'll see about that tomorrow let's eat first." Megan said.
For some reason, I felt uneasy for the rest of the night. The conversation flowed smoothly after that, but I kept spacing out. For some reason I felt it was all my fault. If I wouldn't have transferred to Evermore, Callum wouldn't have followed me. The lives of these amazing people would've been the same.
As we headed out the diner and said our goodbyes. Mason left with flynn and Tyler offered to drop Megan as she lived only a block away from him.
I looked over at Alec, he was standing next to his car. I was about to get in my car but decided otherwise.
"Hey Alec, I feel really bad about the whole Callum thing. I'm really sorry." I said.
He turned around and his green eyes bore into mine. His brown hair were all over the place, he had all the ingredients for an Abercrombie model. His prominent jaw curved gracefully and he had well defined features. His muscled body wore a simple grey T-shirt. I stared at him as he stepped closer to me.
"I'm sorry for snapping at you earlier. It's not your fault." He said politely. I was shocked because it was the first time he has talked without throwing a tantrum at me and I wasn't expecting it.
"No, If it weren't for me. Callum would still be at Maxwell and this wouldn't have happened." I said.
"Look, I don't know what he did and I don't care, but if you changed schools because of him, it must've been pretty bad. You've no reason to apologise." Alec said with a polite smile.
"Yeah, I guess," I gave him a weak smile.
"Ahmm," he cleared his throat, "Well, I'm gonna go now, Later" he said before turning around and jogging up to his car door which was on the other side of his car, not caring to look back.
"Goodbye." I said, mostly to myself before going to my own car and driving back home.
