Wait for me.

(William's POV)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today I received a call from Nate that the hunter agreed to assist in training my fighters. Never in my lingering existence have I sought out aid from any allied forces, and from the Hunters no less. But the situation is dire, my troops are not prepared to handle an attack of such magnitude. The date is set, though I feel that he may break that promise and strike now if boredom hits. That is the type of man he was.

Training and clan affairs have kept me busy. I hadn't realized that I have been skipping meals until the withdrawals had started to set in. Training our new recruits has kept me preoccupied but we were still far behind in our training. We were in need of a qualified trainers and yesterday I hired someone for the role.

I've heard mention of the hunter I hired in the recent decade. Passing whispers between the people of our shelter and others from different rouges whom I caught running for their life from the hunter who killed their leaders. She is practically a celebrity between the shelters. I guess it was only our shelter now.

That cursed vampire, killing innocent people for his own twisted needs. Now I have my hands full with clan duties and preparations for a fight that he treats as a play-date.

Half of my day had been spent attending meetings with clans on the other side of the world, discussing the recent attacks on our neighboring clans and requesting backup.

The other half of the day is spend assimilating the newborns, a difficult group to handle.

Newborns are hard to manage mostly because they are brought into the world with a strong thirst for blood, if we don't keep them in line then there would be more than a couple of casualties. Though they themselves are not to blame, I understand that it is hard to resist the sweet temptation. I am aware that there are hunters out there that don't see it the same light as I do. The reason that they allow my people and I to live in hiding is because we are able to resist the urge and survive off of animal blood. A treaty was made with the hunters hundreds of years ago.

We keep our fangs to ourselves; they keep their stakes to themselves, simple.

There was a mutual understanding between us, yet it is inherent that we are natural born enemies. Many of my people can't stand the site of a hunter, mostly due to the fact that hundreds of our kind were being slaughtered for something they can't help. I was never one to question their morals.

But the distant dream of mine still stands. For a time when vampires could live normal lives amidst humans.

Yesterday I visited Nate, a vampire hunter who runs a training school not far from us. He is one of a few hunters who encourages peace between our kind, a couple years back we formed an alliance. He requests volunteers from our clan to be training "dummies" for his students, says it gives them a taste of reality, in exchange for new information on rouge attackers.

I visited the school in person yesterday to deliver the news of Blackbourne's plan. As I was walking through hall towards Nate's office, I saw a crowd of people surrounding one of the training rooms. I never came early enough to see his students in action, so I decided to watch. We had sent some of our best men to train with the students that day, I was interested in seeing how things would play out.

I moved closer to the crowd to watch the fight. I came from behind so as not to raise suspicion, but I could see some of the more experienced hunters had noticed I was near. One of them being Nate's son, Hunter I believe his name was. He sent me a curious look but nodded at me when he recognized who I was. I heard he was especially talented at tracking vampires, I could see that it wasn't a lie.
