What's his name?
(Emily's POV)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Word had already spread around the school that I was leaving to complete a mission regarding Blackbourne. As I head down the school halls with my suitcase in hand, I could hear the indiscreet whispers coming from wide-eyed students who stared at me like I was strolling towards my grave.
I hadn't slept all night because I needed to finish the rest of my packing and preparations, making my eyes look extra soulless than usual. I finished around 3 am, but I opted to train instead of sleep just in case I had the dreams again. I needed a clear head when I met the bloodsuckers.
I made it to the last stretch of marble flooring, the grand entrance of the school was in sight. I watched as my suitcase rolled over the evenly spaced out cracks in the floor creating a rhythmic sound. I had the rest of my suitcases already moved to the front of the building an hour ago, the ones filled with clothing that is. The one in my hand is filled with my precious guns and other weaponry. Another suitcase or 20 will be shipped out in the following weeks to come.
As I was about to reach for the cold handle of the fort door a pair hands grabs me from the back catching me in a tight hug. In my right ear I hear him whisper "please be careful. Call me when you get there and if anyone gives you any problems give me the word and I will be there." I turn around to face Hunter and grab a hold of his warm hands.
"I will. Take care of your father for me when I'm away. You know how he gets whenever I leave" I smile while ruffling his curly hair and trying my best to ignore the worried look on his face.
Letting go of him I turn around and notice Nate speaking to a figure who had his back towards me through the glass door. It looks like this is the vampire who has come to escort me to the clan. Nate let me know yesterday that he was an old vampire. One who has restrained from tasting human blood for hundreds of years. I really could not give a damn about how much self-restraint he has. There is no doubt in my mind that he has survived off of humans many times in his past.
I opened the door without hesitation and came face to face with the said bloodsucker, halting any conversation that may have been underway. He stayed quiet as he made eye contact with me and I took this chance to assess him.
His face was well defined, almost geometric. His eyes are a light shade of green which look unusually vibrant against his pale skin and platinum blonde hair. He was good looking for a normal person's standards, but I knew all too well that behind that handsome exterior there was a 100-year-old bloodsucking killer that could, at any moment, break every bone in my body swiftly and skillfully. That's just what they are; walking, talking predators. Even as heard him speak, his voice seemed like it was made to lure in unsuspecting victims until they got close enough for a bite. He glanced my way and then at the suitcase.
"You brought down more of the hunter's luggage? leave it here and I'll bring it into the car. Speaking of which, how much longer will we have to wait until he gets here?" I slowly replayed what he had just said in my head to make sure that I had heard him correctly. He? Who the is he? I turn my head to the Nate awaiting an explanation.
Nate, who looked like he was enjoying the conversation he was having with the arrogant bloodsucker, widens his eyes and awkwardly walks up to put an arm around me to bring me closer to the vamp but I plant my legs into the ground and don't move. Nate struggles to bring me in, resulting in an awkward laugh as he begins to introduce me. "This is Emily Russo and she is the academies best tactical fighter, assassin, and has one of the best shots in the nation".
Right after Nate finishes speaking, I add on "I guess underestimation is one tactic that allows me to easily snap the neck of bloodthirsty vampires".
The bloodsucker furrows his eyebrows and lets out a stern but somewhat confused expression. A second of silence settles between us as he examines my figure and locks his eyes on my soulless stare. "So...she was the one who was behind the X-type assassinations? and the one who pummeled our fighter in training? But you're a girl..." He asked genuinely puzzled by the sheer thought that I could have managed to succeed in those tasks. I couldn't help but let out a scoff.
"Did your little once over of me make you skeptical?... Do I look weak to you?" I took a calm step towards the sucker, easily managing to pull myself from Nate's protesting hold. I continue speaking calmly "let me get something through that ancient skull of yours. Traditional fists and strength are not the only forms of combat that are effective against your corpse. I don't need to beat you at wrestling in order to stop you from breathing." I notice his lip quiver slightly at my last phrase.
I move back to grab my suitcase lifting it swiftly into the cars open trunk. Slamming it shut, I head over to the passengers' seat of the bloodsuckers expensive looking sports car. Looking over my shoulder a last time before opening the door I say. "I am not a girl. I'm a vampire hunter".
