Glorfindel was shocked at what Sūrimívirnë was telling him. Erestor and the others had suffered so much through the time that he was parted from his bonded. He almost wept for all the elves lost but Erestor seemed to send soothing sensations to him, still unaware that his bonded was alive. Glorfindel asked Sūrimívirnë to write a letter to Erestor, to inform him that the golden haired elf was back. Elrond thought it strange that Glorfindel would know of his adviser and asked many questions, one of which was why Glorfindel didn't write the letter himself. Glorfindel simply sighed.
"I have never been able to read or write, Elrond. I know how to run a house and how to fight, how to defend and how to cook, and many other talents. Reading and writing has always been a handicap for me. Erestor used to read the reports and other important things to me in Gondolin. We were bonded for half a year before the fall of my city. I can still feel him but he has long blocked the bond between us so that we only feel each other's emotions." Glorfindel almost laughed at Elrond's shocked face.
"Erestor was bonded to you? He lived in Gondolin? You must be joking." Elrond stared at the elf before him, shocked at the love in Glorfindel's eyes.
"He is still bonded to me. It is eternal and unbreakable. He lived in the House of the Fountain for a long time." Glorfindel saw Elrond nod slowly, taking in this new information.
"I will write to Erestor and let him know that you are here." Glorfindel said his thanks and left for the training area where he was going to wipe the floor with Sūrimívirnë. Elrond had written to Galadriel but had forgotten to include Glorfindel in his message to Erestor about the goings on in the valley.
Life went on for those in the valley. Glorfindel took control of the warriors as Linder tried to fill in Erestor's job. He often found himself asking Glorfindel for advice that was freely given. The time flew as the thirteenth year was almost over and Erestor was on his way back to the Hidden Valley. Glorfindel could not block his excitement as he saw the party approaching. He saw and felt the shock that Erestor was feeling before Erestor urged his horse past the rest of the group. He practically jumped off his horse into Glorfindel's arms, tears gathering in his eyes.
"You... You're back. How? When?" Erestor could barely speak as he cried in joy. Glorfindel simply held Erestor as he broke down.
