After the whole Valley witnessed the reunion of the two, Glorfindel gently carried Erestor to their rooms. Erestor refused to allow Glorfindel out of his reach.
"I promise you, Erestor, that I am simply gathering our sleep clothes. I am very real and I have no plans on ever leaving again." Glorfindel allowed his side of the bond to be absolutely open. Erestor opened the bond and almost started crying again. He allowed Glorfindel to help him get ready for sleep, thinking back to the nights at Gondolin when Glorfindel was the one so tired and emotionally wrought. Glorfindel was humming a small tune happily as he brushed the dark hair of his bonded. "I came back thirteen years ago. I believe that you had been confused as to my emotions at the time. I admit to finding the situation ironic in a way though."
Erestor started to laugh as Glorfindel stopped humming to tell him this before the humming picked up again. Neither ignored the uneasiness that they both felt.
"Promise me that you will stay safe. Your return is a symbol of hope in these dark times but I feel as if you have been returned to fight." Erestor looked into Glorfindel's blue eyes and felt the confirmation.
"I promise that I will not fall in the battles to come. I will always return to you, Erestor." Glorfindel felt his heart break as Erestor clung to him for the whole night. He could tell that this was the first time in a very long time that Erestor felt safe. The next day, Erestor refuses to allow Glorfindel from leaving arms length or out of sight, scared of it being a dream. Glorfindel seemed content to follow Erestor like a lost puppy for as long as it took Erestor to finally realize that he would not leave again. Elrond found it hilarious that Erestor would check on Glorfindel every three minutes like the elf Lord was doing something or would vanish like mist. He observed the two in a council meeting, tag teaming together to get the other elves to understand why their plans where more sound and proven to work at peak efficiency. He stopped finding it amusing though when they turned their attention to him and his lack of sleep and terrible eating habits.
"Erestor, Glorfindel, I am an adult. I know how to take care of myself." Elrond could feel the disbelief from his two most trusted friends. He sighed as he was thrown over Glorfindel's shoulder like a sack at Erestor's glance. "Honestly, I can manage to walk to the kitchens by myself." Glorfindel actually laughed as they were almost at the kitchens. Erestor simply stared at Elrond for a long minute.
"No, you haven't eaten at all in the week that I've been back. Glorfindel has taken an oath to make sure you live a long and happy life. Today, we are making you eat and rest. Honestly, you are worse than an elfling." Erestor's statement was met with Glorfindel's laugh. After ensuring that Erestor and Elrond were distracted in the kitchens, Glorfindel went to train and work with the warriors of the Hidden Valley. After all, he had a promise to keep.
