chapter eleven - act one
A LONG LOST NAME
──────────"Saw most of my action mopping up after Endor," Cara Dunes voice echoes through the calm atmosphere which had settled upon her, the pair of bounty hunters, and the child. "Mostly Ex-Imperial Warlords. They wanted it fast and quiet. They'd send us in on the dropships. No support, just us. Then when the Imps were gone, the politics started. We were peacekeepers, protecting delegates, suppressing riots. Not what I signed up for."
After the fist-fight between Mando and Cara had reached its end upon the child's appearance, the odd group of individuals had returned to the building. All but the Mandalorian hold a mug filled with broth, sipping upon the liquid. Eden's dark eyes look upon the ex-shock trooper with an intrigue held within them, the girl curious to learn more about her. There was some spark of familiarity within the sight of Cara, constantly nagging the bounty hunter. "How'd you end up here?"
"Let's just call it an early retirement," Cara pauses as she lifts her mug toward her lips, taking a large sip of her remaining broth. Her eyes shift back upon the two bounty hunters as she continues, a tiny, confident smile lingering upon her lips. "Look, I knew you were Guild. I figured you had a fob on me. That's why I came at you so hard."
"Yeah, that's what I figured." Mando nods.
Cara's gaze strays from the pair of bounty hunters for a moment, sparing the child a curious glance. Placing the palms of her hands against the table, she pushes herself into a standing position. Chugging down the last few sips of her broth, she places the empty mug back upon the table, her eyes moving between all those sitting at it. "Well, this has been a real treat, but unless you wanna go another round, one of us is gonna have to move on, and I was here first."
Offering them one final smirk, Cara turns on her heel, leaving the unusual trio to their own devices; to find their own way in the world. Mando shifts within his seat so that his body is angled toward the child, who sits upon the top of a stool, watching him with doe-like eyes. "Well, looks like this planet's taken."
Eden's eyes linger upon the woman even as she wanders away, watching as she finds her way out of the building. A small smile tugged upon her cracked lips as she merely looks upon her, and, in utter disregard to what others may think of her words, she speaks her thoughts aloud. "I like her."
"I can tell."
The head of Eden turns abruptly in the direction of the man, a mild amusement brewing within her at his stoically spoken words. She shoots a pointed look in the direction of the man clad in metal, her eyes scanning him for any physical cues as to what expression may lie beneath his helmet, but unlike usual, she has no success. She quirks a brow at him. "What's that supposed to mean?"
