After the clock struck midnight, the whole squad was laying down in the living room. There were three couches and each couple shared a couch, which meant that Magenta and Ace had to share a couch as well. Luckily, each couch folded out into a twin size bed, so they weren't forced to be on top of each other.
Ace fell asleep with a grin on his face. He was very satisfied with himself, to say the least. He made the moves, and he was extremely proud. Did he know how she felt? No. But since I'm the narrator, I know.
Magenta went to bed with a grin on her face as well. She was pretty happy Ace made his moves. She didn't really understand why she was happy about that.
Magenta woke up at about 3 a.m. She stepped off the bed quietly and walked into the bathroom. She turned on the light and opened the medicine cabinet. She grabbed some sleeping medicine and swallowed a couple of pills.
"So I leave you alone for two seconds and you're popping pills?" Magenta turned around to see a shirtless Ace at the doorway. "You should really close the door if you plan on doing that."
Magenta closed the pill bottle and rolled her eyes. "We both know I'd never do that." Magenta put the bottle back in the medicine cabinet. "Can I help you, or do you like following girls to a bathroom in the middle of the night?"
Ace smirked at her comment. "Only you, belissima." Magenta's stomach fluttered at her nickname. "I was just checking to see if you're good, which clearly you're not."
"They're sleeping pills, Ace. Quit playing."
"Hey, what do you expect me to think when I walk in to see you popping pills?"
"That I'm just having trouble sleeping?"
"That would be too easy."
"Ace, I'm not one of those girls who's gonna go on their Snapchat story and post how "depressed" I am and let all the guys on my snap see to tell me how much I have to live for." Magenta face palmed.
"Alright, alright. I'll go." Magenta frowned as Ace turned away. "Ya know," Ace said, not even facing Magenta. "You should consider cutting off some of them guys on your snap." He began to walk away but Magenta's words stopped him.
"Oh yeah? And what do you mean by that?" she jumped on the sink. Ace turned around.
"I mean, you should tell them it's over. No debating." Ace put his hands in his pockets and shrugged.
"And how do you expect me to tell them that?" Magenta tilted her head.
"Tell them a real guy's stepping in." Ace's response caught Magenta off guard.
"Pardon?"
"You heard me." He shrugged again.
"And you're supposed to be that guy?"
"Yep."
"Hold on, lemme get this straight. You want to pretend to be my boyfriend to get some of the guys off my snap?"
Ace took a step closer. "I don't want to pretend, pluie."
"Oh gosh." Magenta dragged out the word "gosh."
"Is there a problem?"
"I'm just kinda- Well, you see- I just wanna-" Magenta stuttered, flustered. Ace smirked at her frustration with herself. "Ace, I have a feeling you know exactly what you're doing." Magenta started playing with her bracelet.
"I'm sorry," Ace said as he took another step closer. "I'm afraid I'm unaware. Could you clarify, mi amor?" Magenta knew he was teasing her, and she did not like it.
She gulped. "No." Ace laughed a little.
"Belissima, if there's a problem, I need you to tell me."
"Nope, no problem. Just, ummm, extremely tired!" Magenta blurted. She fake yawned. "Ugh I gotta head to bed!" She kissed him on the cheek. "Love you, goodnight!" She started to walk off but then realized what she said. She turned back around and saw a huge smile on Ace's face. "I meant that I- Forget it." Magenta walked off to the living room. Ace followed her. She went to fall onto the bed, but his arm stopped her and instead pulled her closer to him. He turned her around to face him.
"You didn't think you could just walk away from me like that, did you?" he whispered.
"Well I was hoping."
Ace smirked. He picked her up and walked her back over to the bathroom and sat her back on the sink. "Let's continue," he said as he closed the door.
"God, why do the bad guys always look so good?" she muttered under her breath, but no quiet enough.
"What was that?" Ace asked with a satisfied look.
"Nothing!" Ace smirked.
"I'm pretty sure you just said something abou-"
"Shut up!"
"Okay, okay," Ace laughed. "Ya know, it's funny watching you get all flustered."
"I'd hardly call it flustered."
"Oh yeah?" Ace walked a bit closer to her. "Still so sure about that?"
"Are we here to let you tease me or is there a reason for this?"
Ace laughed and walked back to lean against the door frame. "Well, pluie, I was thinking. Have you ever heard that saying "friends don't kiss friends?""
"I've heard that song. But why does that apply to- Wait. Are you saying...?"
"I'm saying that we definitely aren't just friends."
"Oh goodness. So you mean that you want me to be your girlfriend, and you be my boyfriend?" Ace nodded. "Well, isn't this a great new year day?"
"I think it will be if you say yes."
"Well, that's why it's a great new year day."
"Because you did?"
"Exactly." Magenta booped him on the nose. She hopped off the counter and hugged him. He hugged her back and kissed the top of her head. He turned around and opened the door. All of a sudden their whole squad stumbled in.
"We uh- We were not listening, that's for sure." Sadie laughed.
"We totally were listening." Drake shrugged.
"Yay!" Cayenne hugged Magenta and Sadie joined in their hug.
"And you weren't planning on telling us you liked her?" Leon asked.
"Well, I didn't even realize I liked her that much until a few hours ago," Ace said.
Cayenne hugged Ace and Leon hugged Magenta. Sadie joined in Cayenne's hug and Drake joined in Leon's.
"You have 3 seconds to get off what's rightfully mine," Ace and Magenta both said in unison. They looked at each other and laughed as the four stopped hugging Magenta and Ace. Ace took Magenta's hand and pulled her into his arms.
"So, bedtime?" Sadie asked.
"Definitely." Drake threw his arm around Cayenne and the whole squad walked out of the bathroom and into the living room. Magenta fell asleep in Ace's arms and slept peacefully for the first time in what felt like forever.
