A few days passed after the party. Magenta and Ace became a lot closer. Their friends became skeptical, and the school news posted many different things about them.
Magenta and Ace were very comfortable with each other at this point. They'd help each other if they saw someone flirting with the other, they'd do homework together, they'd eat dinner together, anything you can imagine friends doing.
When they ate dinner together they typically met at Magenta's house. Aunt Holly would join their dinners sometimes, and when she did, she'd talk about how great they would be as a couple and ideas like that. Magenta and Ace would share an uncomfortable laugh. Ace would say something smart like "But then you would be my aunt-in-law. Gross." and Magenta would laugh. That's one thing Magenta liked about him: he always knew how to lighten up an awkward situation. Ace would smile when Magenta laughed. He loved making her laugh.
A few more days passed. Then came New Year's Eve. Their friends decided to throw a party with just Leon, Sadie, Cayenne, Drake, Ace, and Magenta. Ace came over to get ready with Magenta, and then they set off to Cayenne's house, which was where the party took place.
"Magenta! Ace! You made it!" Sadie said, running over with Leon. Sadie pulled Magenta into a hug and Leon dabbed up Ace. Then, Leon gave Magenta a hug and Sadie gave Ace a hug.
"Aye, bro, you can hug her for 2 more seconds. Then, I'm gonna need your hands off my girl." Ace said to Leon in a joking manner. Magenta rolled her eyes as Leon pulled away, raising his hands in surrender. Ace laughed as he grabbed Magenta's waist to pull her closer to him.
"Quit playing with our feelings!" Cayenne said as her and Drake walked over.
"It's fine, babe," Drake began. "We'll see at midnight how they truly feel."
"Woah, Drake. Did you just say something smart?" Magenta asked.
"Okay that's it." Drake jokingly walked over and started to pick her up, but Ace shut that down.
"Chill out," Ace said.
"Okay. It's 10:00. What do we want to do until 12?" Sadie asked.
"Board game?" Drake suggested.
"Game of Life!" Magenta jumped up and down.
The gang ran over to the living room and set up the game of life. They played twice, and by the time both games were finished, it was 11:00. They turned on the Xbox and Magenta made sims of everyone. By the time that was done, it was 11:55.
"Let's go out to the balcony and watch the fireworks." Cayenne said as she began to head to the balcony, everyone else following behind.
The fireworks were very pretty. Many colors flashed for a few minutes.
Leon checked the time. "10," he shouted, beginning the countdown.
"9," everyone said, joining in.
"8!"
"7!"
"6!"
"5!"
"4!"
"3!"
"2!"
"1!"
"0!" Drake pulled Cayenne in for a kiss, and Leon did the same to Sadie. Magenta and Ace exchanged uncomfortable glances.
"How adorable," Magenta said, half joking.
"Yep..." Ace agreed.
Not even a second passed before Ace and Magenta made eye contact. They stayed looking at each other for what felt like forever before Ace said "Ah, screw it." He pulled Magenta in for a kiss, and Magenta didn't fight it.
Their friends pulled away from their New Year kisses and immediately began snapping pictures as soon as they saw Ace and Magenta. Magenta smiled at their photography and Ace did the same, both of them pulling away.
"Alright ladies. Show's over," Magenta said as she hugged Ace, him returning the favor.
"WE KNEW IT!" Leon yelled. But Magenta and Ace didn't hear them. They was too focused on what just happened. Magenta snuggled further into Ace, and Ace tightened his grip. They looked into each other's eyes and read their thoughts: they could stay like that forever.
