The noise of a man screaming in pain rang out through the night, as Connor was slammed into the wall by Zoom. He had thought Reverse Flash was training, but he was caught off-guard as Hunter sent him flying through the air. However, he smirked, he had been looking forward to fighting someone with his powers. Especially someone who could fight back.
They began running at high speeds, much to the amusement of Thawne, and battling. Connors lightning however, began to change colors, the blue staying the same, but the black was changing to grey and eventually to white. The entire time this was happening, Connor was slowing down, something he hated ever since becoming a speedster, and more often then not, Zoom's attacks would land. Little by little they were getting to him, and he stopped after Zoom's flurry. Panting and sweating, he mentally cursed himself for losing so easily, before an idea flew through him. He began to taunt Zoom (I'm tired so imagine good taunts plz) and Zoom was wasn't having it, getting angrier and angrier at each insult thrown.
Zoom snapped and pinned him down, electricity swirling around his hand as he began to electrocute him, but to his surprise, Connor was taking it well. So he amplified the voltage with the intent on frying him, but then it hit him and the white lightning in Connor's eyes was now grey. And he was once again caught off-guard as Connor grabbed his hand and pulled it even closer as a sadistic smile spread across his face. It only grew as the once white lightning darkened again, now turning pitch black.
"Thanks for the refill." He said and before Zoom could even register, they were across the street in the same position but reversed, as Connor began to beat him mercilessly, dark lightning following behind his heavy blows. Even though it was night, and even though he was beating a man in a pitch black suit, he knew there was blood, he'd been beaten down enough times in his life that he recognized the sickly coppery smell. Except this time, it wasn't sickly, it was intoxicating, he had always hated it because pain always accompanied it, but this time, there was nothing, just excitement. Every punch created more of the lovely smell and left him eagerly awaiting the next attack. He could see why his bullies had so much fun terrorizing him as a child. Before he could deliver another punch he felt he'd waited far too long for, Reverse Flash finally stepped in.
"As much as I want this to keep going, I need him alive. Besides, there someone even faster than him you get to kill. And now that I know what makes you tick, training will be a breeze." He stated, and watched in annoyance as Connor's gleeful face twisted to one of confusion as he dropped the now very unconscious Hunter, if it weren't for his speed healing, he'd have already died. "You told me your quirk was discharge, storing electricity in your body and releasing it while accidentally short circuiting yourself for a bit. Well that first part is how you became a speedster. The bolt Zoom hit you with, it's energy stayed and combined itself with your quirk, linking you to the Speed Force and changing the way you release the energy... as speed. The darker the lightning, the faster you run. You absorb electricity when your not running, or when it enters your body directly," He then gestures to his hand, electricity swirling around it, "And when you run, it also sends out a wave of electricity. Any questions?" Connor shakes his head, eliciting a smile from Thawne. Connor did have questions about the Speed Force, his powers, lightning colors, etc. So they had a brief Q&A, in which Thawne explained that he created the Negative Speed Force.
"Wow, that's a lot to take in." Connor says, amazed at how much knowledge they had on the Speed Force. Reverse Flash simply says, "Take it in another time, right now, we need to show you all your powers, and you need to perfect them. So get ready, the next few days are going to be hell. Now put your suit on and grab him, we've gotta get going." Connor picks up zoom and then stumbles a bit as he realized what he'd said. "Suit? You made me a suit?" He said, nearly a whisper. RF nodded, "Most speedsters have friction-less suits so they don't catch on fire. You need one too."
RF sped off and returned shortly with a full body suit, including a head piece. It was bright blue with a large lightning bolt in the center. (It looks kinda like the season 3 Flash suit, except for the lightning bolt, I drew that for you guys.)
Connor was in awe, his mouth hung open as he admired it. When he snapped out of his trance, he put it on at break-neck speed, not even using super speed. But instead of putting on the head piece, he tore it off. "The hell was that for?" RF asked. Connor stayed silent for a moment before giving his reason. "All my life, I was a nobody, they didn't know my name, my face, just that I was a punching bag. Now that I have this opportunity to show them how I felt, my pain, my fear... my helplessness. I want them to get a good look at my face while they suffer. I want the whole world to know me, my face, my name." He spoke with passion and RF listened, one of the first to do so for Connor. RF then finally asked him the all important question, "So, what is your name?" Connor looked at him, and happiness and pride poured into him as he spoke.
"From now on... I will be Surge!"
