I walked up to Nini's house, rubbing my hands together rapidly. I hastily knock on the door, crossing my arms across my torso tightly as I wait for someone to answer.
The weather was being crazy, and it was freezing. But I decided on a whim there was something I needed to do. And I needed to do it now.
I wasn't waiting long as Dana, one of Nini's two mothers opened the door, quickly motioning me inside.
"It is freezing out there" The older woman exclaimed "I swear, the lengths you'll go through just to see my daughter. You're crazy.""Or, in love." Carol, Nini's second mother said as she walked by, winking at me playfully.
I smiled at her, a light blush coloring my cheeks. She was definitely right. I was in love. Had I told Nini yet? No. Was it because I'm afraid of getting hurt? Possibly.
I knew, deep down I knew, that she would never hurt me, but growing up in my family, the way I did, I didn't feel like I experienced love.
Honestly, before I fell for Nini, I never felt like I could actually love anyone...
"You know where her room is." Dana smiled, twirling away to the living room. I made my way to Nini's room, knocking before I entered.
I waited until I heard a quiet "Come in." From Nini. I walked in, clutching the bag of different candies and snack foods I brought I walked in. "Hey Nini."
She looked up from her homework, an exhausted look on her face as she smiled at me. "Hey baby."
"I brought snacks." I sat down beside her on her bed. "I know school was rough and rehearsals stressed you out."
Nini wrapped her arms around my neck, embracing me in a tight hug. I wrapped my arms around her, basking in the moment.
When she pulled from the embrace, she grinned. "You know it's freezing, right?"
"Yeah... But there's something I needed to tell you."
"Oh?" Nini's body tensed as she took a deep breath. She swallowed hard, clenching her fists. "Are... Are you breaking up with me?"
"No- no-"
"I knew this wouldn't work out... I knew it..." Nini started to say looking between me and wall behind me.
"Nini- Nini-" I cut her off "I'm not breaking up with you... I-I love you." I blurt out, leaning back.
Nini stopped, mid speech on how she knew this would never work and how she couldn't believe she was so stupid. "W-what?"
"I-" I take a deep breath "Love you."
Nini's face softens as she smiles at me. "I love you too."
"Yeah?" I breathe a sigh of relief as a smile spreads across my lips.
She nodded leaning in ever so slightly. I leaned in a tad, glancing at her lips for only a second before I looked back at her dazzling eyes. "May I kiss you?"
Again, she nodded, leaning in, her lips meeting mine half way. There was a rap on the door, swinging open as Carol walked in.
She grins at us before clearing her throat. "Dinners done, I hope you're staying."
"If it's no imposition-"
"Of course its not." She smiles "You're always welcome."
I smiled, nodding. "Then yes, I would love to stay."

i tried to make this as gender neutral as I could, for many reasons, the main one being we know Nini is definitely into males but also because i feel there are many who are females that like her soooo yeah- but the point is, i tried to not make you (aka the reader) a specific gender.
