I feel like this concept is kinda highkey over used but I am lacking in ideas so, ya'll get this. haha

December was Y/n's favorite month for many reasons, such as cooler weather and Christmas. She was always so excited around this the holidays season, but not so much this time.

With twenty two days of left until Christmas, she normally would have been planning holiday get togethers, and buying unnecessary Christmas presents but this year was different.

She sat at the lunch table in the Cafeteria, Ricky's coat draped over her shoulders as her chin rested in her hand. She was silent as her eyes glanced between him and Nini, the flirting so blatantly obviously to anyone except them.

She didn't say anything, not when they were talking not when Nini stood up to throw her trash away and not when he watched her as she left the Cafeteria.

Y/n quickly looked down at her own lunch, trying to seem nonchalant and ignore the stabbing ache in her chest. She glanced up, seeing Ricky smiling at her this time.

She smiled back, the feeling fake to her, slipping his coat off her shoulders before handing it back. "I should probably be getting to class now."

She stood up, grabbing her tray. Ricky stood up too, leaning in for a kiss, as he always did. Their lips connected, and Y/n tried her hardest to not pull away.

"I'll see you at rehearsals."

Quickly, Y/n threw her trash away and left the Cafeteria, wanting nothing more than to go home and curl into a ball, falling asleep to the sound of some random show playing on Netflix in the background.

All too soon, drama practice came and she got to see Ricky and Nini together again, only standing close together, rehearsing their lines.

Nini shivered, and with no hesitation, Ricky shrugged off his jacket, draping it over her shoulders. Nini smiled at Ricky, mumbling something to him before she walked away, over to Ashlyn.

Y/n looked at Ricky, catching his eye. He knew he had been caught. He knew he hadn't been that subtle. He knew that Y/n knew.

Y/n didn't say anything. She didn't move. Neither did Ricky. The pair stood a room apart, only looking at eachother,  other students passing between, not paying any attention, Nini standing near the door, laughing with Ashlyn.

Y/n knew he didn't want to be with her anymore, and there was no reason for him to tell her so as she backed out of the classroom.

Ricky followed after her, his feet moving before his brain processed what happened. "Y/n-" He called for her as she kept walking.

She paused momentarily, not turning around as a small tear slipped down her flushed face. The stabbing pain returned to her chest.

"I'm sorry."

She bit down on her lip, not looking back as she looked up at the ceiling. "Why? Why would you kiss me? Why would you date me? I mean, she's ten times prettier than I ever could be. She's perfect…"

"Y/n…"

"No, Ricky." Y/n said as she faced him. "You want to be with her and that is fine with me. I just wish you had had the decency to tell me before you openly flirted with her, before you gave her your sweater… before any of this."

"Y/n, I really am sorry."

She nodded slowly, turning back around. "And I'm sorry for having not noticed."
