October 14 1944
When the Battle of Leyte came, all of us didn't know that the Japanese had a very strong grip on the Phillipines home land and we are attacking the Japanese with the support of the Australian military and the Philippines civilian government, at least we have some allies to fight along side.
Captain Fitch: Men! Gather around.
As the men gather around the Captain, we have no clue what the Captain wants to tell us anything just yet, when we seen the civilian government of the Philippines leader comes and stands by the Captain, and the real news hits us in the stomach.
Captain Fitch: As you guys seen the leader of the civilian government, I've got some bad news to tell you guys, when we were heading this way to help them out, they given us a heads up that the rest of their own country is fighting with the Japanese.
The rest of us started to hate the Japanese even more for turning the Philippines military against their own people, as long as we are here to help the civilian government to take their land back for them and only for them. When we got our gear, a Japanese artillery started to open fire on us, so we had to push up to the Japanese artillery position so more US and Australia Troops can land onto the islands. When we got to the artillery position, we seen that the artillery was firing by the Philippines military, so I'm confused by why the Philippines military is working with the Japanese, it's not my country I can't tell them what they can or can't do, I just want to help them out so they can have a peaceful life. When the commanding officer told us to open fire, all of did without asking on why, it's war we have to bring peace and freedom to the Philippine Island and for the other islands.
November 30th 1944
All from last month through to the end of this month, we are on the last stage of bringing the Philippines back together from the Japanese. I'm glad that the US Army came to the Pacific to help us out, but the US Army had to restrained to fight against the Japanese, the US Army General Mcauther had to tell the Army that the Marines will be making the beach landing first so the Army don't have to be pin down by the Japanese machineguns. I know someone that join the Army, and I think he's on the island, but the US Marine Captain had ordered me to make a push with my team to cut off the Japanese position and blow up a Japanese train as well. As the night comes we got into position to blow up the Japanese train, we but TNT on the train track, part of the team was watching the Japanese position, when we got back to them, we waited for the tain to come and we started to push up on the Japanesse position, at the right time the train came and set off the TNT to make a sound cover for our gun fire on the Japanesse position. After we started to attack the Japanese, we actually pushed up and went into the Japanese position to take it for ourselves, after when we were in the position, we started to fight in tight areas, but at least we took the position through the night to the morning.
December 1st 1944
When the morning came, the main US, Australian, and Philippine Civilian Government came up to the position, we had the US, Australian, and Philippine flag up so they know it was us in the position and not the Japanese anymore, when the US Marine and the other captains came up to us and thanks us for doing this for them. We said you're welcome back to them, and when Captain Fitch came up to me and asked me something.
Captain Fitch: Good job Richard on this mission.
Me: Thanks sir, to be honest it was one of my easiest missions ever.
Captain Fitch: Good point, did you lose any men?
Me: No sir.
Captain Fitch: Good, we're going to be shipping out to Iwa Jima at the end of this month, so be ready for this one okay.
Me: Yes sir.
Captain Fitch: Oh how would you feel if you were a Lieutenant?
Me: That's sounds great sir.
Captain Fitch: Okay. Now move out Lieutenant.
Me: Yes sir.
As the Captain promoted me to Lieutenant, I was kinda nervous at this, but I didn't show this to anyone at all during combat. So when we leave the island, we are going to rest up for the next two battles. When the month comes to an end, we helped out with our friends and General Mcauther kept his promise to the Philippines and I'm happy for him to keep it for them.
