February 19th - March 26th 1945
It's February of 1945 as we are waiting to make the beach landing on Iwo Jima, the commander was promise three day shelling of the island but that was cut short and they wanted us to land now, so all 500+ ships stopped firing on Iwo Jima and now we can get into the Higgs boats and LVT boats to go onto the land, and we have to make sure that no Japanese soldiers that can push us back to Midway, but we're not going to have that happen to us at all, no sir we'll push them back to their mainland, so we can fight them there, and plus make them suffer what they did to the world. After few minutes from the boats, we finally landed on the black beaches of Iwo Jima, I was thinking to myself when I was looking at the open land and see no one, and they might be waiting for us to push deeper into their land, so they can open fire onto us. The office told first platoon to move up and the rest of us has to wait for them to be little bit ahead of us before moving up. Then now we can start moving up, and all hell broke lose as the Japanese started to open fire onto us, and now we have to find some cover because we're all still in the open fire of the enemy, as we reach a crater from an American ship, we returned fire onto the Japanese positions, as I carried a m1 flamethrower and my Captain told me to burn the machinegun nest and the rest of the Marines started to cover me as I burn the Japanese machinegun grew and now the rest can move up to take the tranches from the Japanese. The following week of February into March, we kept fighting the Japanese on Iwo Jima, I went to first platoon, the Major wanted me to take a second US flag to the top of Mt. Suribachi, it took me few minutes to reach the top of it and told the Sgt of first platoon to take that first flag down and put the new one up, so they did and I was there to help raise the second flag up on the Mountain. The commanding officer promoted me to Major, I was shocked at it at first, but I did thank him for it, as I rest up with my team, for the night. I'm hoping that Okinawa will be the last major battle for this war.
March 25 - 26th 1945
As the battle of Iwo Jima comes to a close and we are one more step away for Okinawa and mainland Japan, I'm hoping that the Japanese surrender right there and now. It's the 26th of March, we are finishing up the last remaining Japanese on the island, after we did that all of my men and myself returned to the ships and be ready for the last battle, and the main attack of Japan itself. So when we went up onto the ships, and headed to Okinawa for this last part of the war, and I want to return back home to continuing working or I can stay in the Marines, but it's later into my future. Later that night I finally can eat and go to sleep for once with out any Japanese shooting at us. So goodnight.
