Chapter 30: Hero's Home

Hero

"Don't forget about me when you land, okay?" She cheekily grins but I can still see the sadness in her eyes.

Sighing heavily, I incase her in my arms and bury my face in her hair. "I'm gonna miss you so much, love," I croak, my throat constricting at the effort of controlling my emotions.

"Don't you fucking dare cry Beauregard!" She admonishes playfully, nudging my side.

"I wasn't," I chuckle before kissing her forehead, not caring about the crowd going about their businesses in the busy terminal of LAX. "I'll call you the moment I land in Heathrow," I tell her whilst I bring my forehead against hers.

"I'll be waiting," she smiles.

"Don't go too wild on your night out with the girls, yeah?"

"I'm not gonna make any promises I can't keep," she smirks and giggles as I glare at her. "I'll behave the best I can, is that enough?"

"Fine," I sigh.

When we hear my flight being called for boarding, she breathes, "Go."

I kiss her one last time, whispering my love for her before turning on my heels and heading to the gate without another glance. I can't. If I do, I might just change my mind seeing her standing there.

The flight is mostly spent with me sleeping and listening to some music whilst reading the script my agent sent me for another audition. The moment my plane lands in Heathrow, I call Jo and assure her that I've arrived safely and that I am waiting for Titan to fetch me outside the terminal. When I see the familiar car taxiing, I drag my luggages along with me. Titan greets me with a quick hug and helps me put away my luggages before we slide into the car and drive home. The drive is spent mostly talking about Mercy and Diesel and I sense Titan cautiously avoidinv the elephant in the room-my dating life. I get it. My siblings must feel like they are caught having to choose between me and our parents.

When we get to our home, I am immediately greeted by a squealing Mercy before Diesel pounces in on me.

"Diesel, man! I've missed you so much!" I coo, petting his chin and ears.

"Come on, mum and dad are waiting for you inside," Mercy nudges me and the anxious look on her beautiful face lets me know that it's not gonna be a warm family reunion. I've expected just as much but the moment I step into the dining room and spot Sophia seated along my mum and dad, I stop dead in my tracks.

They can't be fucking serious!

What the fuck is she doing here in our home? And why the fuck is she giggling and chatting with mum like she never broke me in the worst possible way?

"Hero's home," Mercy announces before taking her usual seat besides Titan who is already seated himself. Everyone's eyes turn to me and I see Sophia's light up the way it usually does whenever she saw me before, but unlike before when I my heart would flutter and I would greet her with a broad smile, all I do now is frown at her presence.

"Sophie, what are you doing here?" I ask, not giving a fuck if I sound rude.

"Hero!" Mum admonishes. "Sophia is here to join us for dinner."

"Why?" I ask, this time addressing my question to mum as I stay rooted on my feet.

"We can talk about that over dinner, honey. Now come on, dinner's getting cold. Take your seat beside Sophia," mum instructs, pointing to the empty seat right besides Sophia.

I've never once talked back or disrespected my parents in any way before-aside from ignoring their demands that I come home while I was with Jo in LA which is beside the point-but right now, they're making it extremely difficult to hold back my temper. I literally just got home and they're already trying to manipulate my life by pulling this kind of stunt. I know exactly what they are trying to do here. They're trying to bring Sophia back into my life at the thought that she might distract me from my relationship with Jo. Well, news flash, it's not gonna fucking work.
