Luke's POV
After our class, we grabbed our lunch and went up to Prof. Baxter who is waiting at the courtyard where the other students hang out in.
Luke: Prof. Baxter!
Prof. Baxter: Hey guys, how's your new professor?
Tanya: She's racist, against Chinese people. Like Wendy, Kan, Kris, Yao and me. Just because she divorced with her husband who is also Chinese.
Jamie: We need to find his son, he lives in the rural areas of Auckland and isn't safe. There are tribes living nearby.
Calum: Kinda offended, my sister, the twins and I are the descendants of these tribes.
Kan: Are you sure? They only speak Maori.
Zoe: We can speak Maori, it's our household language when mum gets cross.
Prof. Baxter: Are you sure you can go to the place your new friend lives?
Justin: We will.
Prof. Baxter: Okay, Brian will take you there.
Brian: Are you sure guys?
Luke: Trust us, we're not scared of anything.
Calum: Except spiders.
Connor: Or moths.
Zoe: Or bees.
Brad: Or roller coasters.
Kan: Or heights.
Luke: Or whatever, just take us there, please.
Brian: Okay, suit yourselves.
We wenr into the bus and rode through the city. It took us 30 minutes until we reached the entrance of the rural area.
Brian: Are you sure you can enter these areas?
Luke: If you know us better, we are brave people. We'll be back soon.
We went into the areas and it is a short walk until we reached the tribe. They noticed us and they kinda looked like they are up to a battle. The chief immediately yelled in Maori to us.
Chief: Oi! He aha te mahi i roto i te iwi? (Oi! What are you doing in the tribe?)
Devan: Calum, Zoe, Raphael, do something.
(We are trying to find someone we knew that was being abused by his mother. His mother, our professor in the university over there is being abusive to him.)
Chief: Ka korero ia Maori. (He speaks Maori.)
Maori Girl: Mama, kei a matou nga amulets. (Mummy, they have our amulets.)
Maori Woman: I tiki koe i hea? (Where did you get them?)
Zoe: Na Sir Simon, i homai e ia he whakangahau ki a tatou na te mea i tohua ai tatou hei Oranga o nga Zodiac. (From Sir Simon, he gave us these amulets because we are chosen to be the Order of the Zodiacs.)
The entire tribe didn't put their weapons against us, instead they put their weapons down. They let us into their tribe as the chief gave us a private meeting, talking about Sir Simon.
Chief: I nga wa o mua i haere mai te Pakeha ki konei i etahi tau kua hipa, ko tetahi ko Sir Simon. I roto i taua waa, he maha nga tupuna i whakamatea e tona papa. Nō reira i haere tōku koroua tipuna ki te whawhai ka hoatu e ia a Sir Simon tana tūranga ka tiakina e ia nga amulets kei a tatou. He taitamariki noa ia i taua wa. (The British used to come here many years ago and one of them was Sir Simon. During that time, his father has killed many of our ancestors. So my great great grandfather went to war and gave Sir Simon his position and guard the amulets we have. He was only a young boy at the time.)
Raphael: Na, he aha te mea i tupu? (Then, what happened?)
Chief: Ko taku tupuna tupuna i mate i te whawhai, i tu a Sir Simon ki tana waahi ka hoatu e ia nga apiha tekau ma rua he aakii Zodiac. Na, i tetahi ra, ka mate a Sagittarius. Ko etahi atu toa a Zodiac kua mate katoa. (My great great grandfather died in battle, Sir Simon took his place and gave 12 apprentices the Zodiac amulets. Then, one day, Sagittarius grew ill. The other Zodiac heroes died too.)
Zoe: I noho a Sir Simon ki te Arch Hill Chase? (Did Sir Simon live in the Arch Hill Chase?)
Chief: Nāna, he tāne, he tāne nō te Māori e āhei ana ki te kōrero Ingarihi. Na ratou ia i whakaara ake ia ratou ake. (He did, with a Maori man and woman who can speak English. They raised him as their own.)
Calum: Me haere taatau, me rapu tetahi tangata nui. (We have to go, we need to find someone important.)
Chief: Kei te hiahia koe ki te haere ki te whare e kite ana ahau? Whaia ko Moana, he kotiro iti ia engari ka taea te korero Ingarihi. Ka taea e ia te kawe ki a koe ki tera whare. (You wanna go to the house I see? Follow Moana, she is a little girl but she can speak English. She can take you to that house.)
We followed a little Maori girl to the house and it looks like it's wearing off.
James: What happened here?
Moana: I have no idea, why don't you come in?
Tanya knocked on the door and it automatically opened. We all looked inside and there are beer and vodka bottles everywhere. Everything is filthy.
Tanya: Who lives in a house like this?
Michael: Someone drunk.
Jamie: Looks like Ken must be upstairs.
We went upstairs and I opened the door. It revealed a young boy in a sobbing mess, laying on the bed.
Ken: Get away from me!
Jamie: Woah woah woah, Ken, it's me, Jamie, with my friends.
Ken: Jamie?
Jamie: Yes, it's me, calm down.
Luke: Ken, what happened here? Has someone been drinking? Too much vodka and fosters.
Troye: Fosters is a beer in Australia.
Ken: Yes, mum has.
Wendy: Prof. Lebedinsky? Why would she do that?
Ken: She has been doing this since mum and dad divorced.
Tanya: No wonder why you've been absent for a long time. Plus where's your dad?
Ken: He's in China, he's gambling. He's always gambling and he'll always be gambling.
Calum: Would it be best if you go to our home with us? We'll try our best to keep away from your mum.
Ken: But mum's gonna kill me.
Tanya: We have no choice. C'mon.
The end...
