Steven's P.O.V
I knew something was wrong the minute we stepped through the door. What I don't know is whether it was the large crowd mingling around inside or the fact that nobody told me that this was happening. Gems all from Little Homeworld and Little Homeschool are here, talking with each other and even the Gems. They better not have set this up without informing me first, otherwise I'm not gonna be happy.
"Steven, what's all this?" Spinel asks me, holding my hand tighter.
"That's the question, isn't it?" I reply, scanning the room "I honestly have no clue".
"Wait, so you're saying that Pearl, Garnet, and Amethyst didn't tell you about this?" Spinel says.
"Not in the slightest" I answer, sighing in frustration.
"Well, let's just figure out as we go. Maybe we can still fit in that nap we've agreed to~" Nelly murmurs, rubbing her thumb in circles on my palm. I grow a small smile and relent.
"Alright" I agree.
Spinel then puts her sandals down and fits her feet back in them, not wanting to get scolded by Pearl for walking around barefoot. The two of us then weave our way into the mass of gems, doing our best not to get separated. Our aim was Pearl, Garnet, and Amethyst, since the whole thing was clearly their idea, and after dodging some elbows and potential leg trips, we get to an open spot by the Gems. The three of them look like they're talking to someone, but this gem has their back turned, so I can't quite see who she is. Spinel guides us forward and soon we're close enough as to where Pearl can spot us.
"Oh, Steven and Spinel! I didn't know you two were coming" The pale gem greets rather joyously. I keep calm and push my anger down.
"Well, frankly, we didn't expect a celebration of sorts to be going on either" Spinel speaks up. Pearl frowns, looking at Garnet.
"You forgot to mention it, Pearl" The fusion says flatly. Pearl facepalms herself and rubs the back of her neck awkwardly, leaving Amethyst to fill in the gaps for us.
"Well, you see, guys, a new gem arrived here and we thought it'd be best to throw a welcoming party!" The quartz exclaims with enthusiasm. I feel some of my anger go, seeing as this isn't as big of a deal as I thought, and look down at the new gem herself.
"Well, if that's the case, welcome to Earth!" I say, trying to be nice. The gem then turns around and I freeze.
This gem... The ruby on her eye, the aquamarine. "Are you kidding me right now?"
"Well so this is Steven Universe? The savior of the galaxy I've heard so much about? It's so good to meet ya!" The british gem smiles, raising her hand for me to shake it.
I grit my teeth and shake her hand. How could they be so alright with this? Do they not realize who this is?! My instincts are telling me that we should get rid of her immediately, but instead, from a look on behalf of Amethyst, I stay where I am and just bare with it.
"Blue bird, why don't you go talk with the other guests?" Pearl suggests.
"Oh alright!" She flies over to converse with the others. I then change my expression and ask the Gems to go into the bathroom. We head there at once and only after the door is shut do I feel some slight sense of privacy.
"What's this about, Steven?" Garnet asks.
"It's obvious that Bluebird is a fusion of Aquamarine and Eyeball! Both have tried to kill me in the past and yet here there are standing in our living room! Aren't you guys just a little bit suspicious of them showing up at this exact time when peace is finally settling in?" I exclaim, throwing my arms up in the air.
"Yeah, but you yourself practically invited any gem from across the galaxy to come here for a chance to change themselves, man" Amethyst points out.
"That doesn't take away from the fact that this Bluebird should at least be kept an eye on" Spinel says, siding with me.
"If you're suggesting we have someone tail her, I'm going to have to say no" Garnet adds. I huff in indignation.
"Fine. Just keep her out of my bedroom though, otherwise I'll take this matter into my own hands" I say, opening the bathroom door and leaving swiftly. Spinel follows after me and together, the two of us head up the stairs to my room. I then plop down on the bed and take my jacket off and toss it in the corner out of frustration. It almost seems to me like the Gems are blind to how some people just can't change. Sure, I love change and I love being able to help others change for the better, but after seeing Jasper, it's clear that there are some that just can't change or just don't want to. I doubt Bluebird is any different, whether being fused or not.
"Steven, don't hate the Gems for trying to be like you. They really wish to help others change like you do. Though maybe in this case, I think they've dug themselves too deep in that hole to see that not everyone has the same attitude as them" Spinel says, trying to be helpful. Biting my lip, I spin and look so that we're both facing each other.
"I know right? It's unbelievable. Like, we're the only ones who see Bluebird for who she really is" I rant on.
"What's all going on up here?" A British-toned voice speaks up. Pausing, Spinel and I look to see the very wolf among the sheep leaning into my room. I can't respond angrily because she'll know I'm on to her, so to play her little game, I'll put on a mask of happiness.
"Oh, just a little chit chat with me and Spinel here" I reply, leaving out the fact that she's my girlfriend.
"Oh, I see! Sorry for interrupting you! I'll come back later" Bluebird chirps, waddling away down the stairs. I sigh once more, feeling like I do quite a lot of that lately, but then feel Spinel's hand turn my head to face her.
"Why don't we finish what we started this morning?~" She says seductively.
Right then, all my angst and frustration change, melding into my body. I then roughly kiss Spinel, catching her by surprise for a second before she adjusts, holding tightly onto the back of my neck. Her fingers then slither down to the collar of my shirt, forcefully put it off. Now shirtless, I clench onto her thighs and kiss her with more force, my frustration fueling my actions. Spinel then kicks of her sandals and pulls me forward so that I'm laying on top of her. She then crosses her legs behind my back, grinding against me while still making out. Her hands continuously move up and down my back, the feeling of her fingers against my skin making this ever more hot. We then slowly roll over, going from me on top to being on bottom to back on top again. We're so enthralled and caught up in this love making that nothing could stop us, not even the Gems and the Diamonds combined.
From time to time, Spinel moans, giggles, and mumbles something that gets us to kiss harder. I don't want to push her to go any farther than this, mainly because I don't think either of us are truly ready for that, but I don't know if I'll be able to stop myself if she instigates it first. And yep, sure enough, Spinel then goes to take her shirt off. I know she's not wearing anything underneath her shirt, so I pause and stop her.
"I don't know if I'm ready for that yet, baby" I say gently "Maybe in due time, but just not right now".
"Of course" Spinel replies, pulling her shirt back down "I wouldn't ever want you to feel uncomfortable about us being together".
Nodding wearily, I find my eyes drooping and mind shutting down. Spinel's feeling the same way, I can tell, and as such, we once again fall asleep together. It'll be a nice little nap and we'll wake again in a few hours.
Because, like it or not, Bluebird isn't fooling me.
*3 Hours Later...*I'm awoken by the sound of screaming, they sound familiar. "Dad?" I mumble to myself, unsure if my suspicions were correct.
"HELP!" The voice screams again which brings me out of bed in a flash.
"DAD! I'm coming, hang on!" I shake Spinel awake, which she groans in response.
"Just a few more minutes..." She says tiredly.
I shake her again, this time urgently to which she sits up. "Steven? Baby what's wrong?" Spinel looks at me with worry in her eyes.
"It's my dad, he's in trouble! I knew we couldn't trust that gem!" I growl, feeling my anger start to take over.
Spinel sits up putting her sandals on. "Calm down Steven, I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation why your dad needs help."
"Will someone help me, please?! This gem is trying to kill me!"
She shrinks, "maybe not..."
I storm downstairs with Spinel following in suit behind me. I knew I couldn't trust her, why didn't anyone believe me except my girlfriend? We make it outside. "Dad?! Where are you?"
"Up here you bloody little wanker."
Me and Spinel look up to see Bluebird holding my dad by the scruff of his air, dangling him off the roof. "Let him go!"
"Or what you'll shatter me? I can't believe you've been this clueless on who we really are," She says as her body glows unfusing into the two little gems I knew they were.
"It's me Aquamarine," She smirks.
"And Ruby!" Eyeball chips in.
"We all knew it was you guys the whole time! We just gave you a chance to prove you're changed, which I knew you two haven't," I say, growling underneath my breath feeling a deeper rage seething through.
Eyeball laughs, summoning her dagger, "Then you're just as stupid as before we first met," she brings the knife to my father's throat as his eyes widen in fear.
"Don't you harm him or I swear I'll..." My skin begins to turn Pink which catches everyone by surprise. "Let... HIM GO!"
My dad takes matters into his own hands and snatches Eyeball's dagger, slicing the top of his hair that Aquamarine was holding, making him plummet. "NO!" I quickly sprint forward catching him. I set him down as he runs over to the remains of his hair, scooping it up crying.
"Father... Go inside.. Spinel you too.." I say with gritted teeth.
Spinel doesn't argue and helps Greg into the house, shutting the door. I look up at both of these gems with pure rage seething through my entire body. "I won't let you get away with this!" Leaping up with my shield summoned I smack them both to the ground.
I don't relent, rushing forward I slam my shield into both of them sending them both flying back.
"Quick! We need to fuse," Aquamarine and Eyeball attempt to fuse again, but it fails as they both land on their face.
"FUSING WON'T SAVE YOU!" I slam my fist into Aquamarine, causing a crater. Eyeball looks at me with fear in her eyes.
"Please, stop! We surrender!" She cries in plea.
I couldn't even control myself I snatch her by the throat, slamming her in the crater where Aquamarine was. Forming spiked bubble gauntlets on myself I begin pummeling them both. Nothing was stopping me from making them pay, nothing. The gems I could hear screaming for me to stop, but I don't I keep punching and punching until I see red.
I feel a hand grasp my shoulder which I quickly spin around and smack whoever is there. My heart drops to the bottom of my chest. It's.. Spinel... she looks at me in shock and hurt.
"H-how could you.." She says her voice choking.
I reach my hand out to her, "Spinel I..-"
"DON'T TOUCH ME!" She stands up, running into the temple crying.
Turning back around I see Eyeball and Aquamarine. Their gems are cracked beyond belief. They were seconds from shattering... Looking down at my hands that are matted in bruises, there was only one thought that went through my mind.
What kind of monster have I become?
