"Alright, I'll go through the front with Kate, Sammy you take the side door. Make sure there's no way the sons of bitches can escape," both Kate and Sam gave Dean a slight nod to signal that they understood the plan.
The trio were standing a short distance away from the house they had traced a small pack of wolves to. From what the siblings could tell they had been feeding on cattle for years to cover their tracks, but when a new member of the group couldn't control his urges he fed on the hearts of a few college students, which then of course attracted the Winchesters' attention.
Sam cautiously made his way around the side of the run down home, sheltered only by the shadows and quiet sounds of the night. Kate and Dean were approaching the front door with their guns slightly raised, the silver bullets, resting inside ready to deliver the fatal shot to the monsters hearts.
"I really would've preferred if you stayed in the car, you know," Dean announced quietly as a statement rather than a question.
"I'm well aware of what you'd 'prefer' Dean but I'm helping you whether you want it or not, there's three wolves and three of us, simple," Kate whispered back with her typical level of sass.

After breaking down both doors, side and front, and catching the inhabitants by surprise, each hunter chose a wolf and began the ambush.
Sam shot and killed the oldest and largest who was clearly the leader of the group, the female Dean was in charge of bared her teeth and growled in anger at the fact her 'mate' had just been killed; blinded by rage she became sloppy with her attacks and was an easy target for the oldest Winchester.
Whilst that was happening Kate killed what was believed to be the final wolf, a teenage boy, not much younger than herself who had clearly been the one to mess up and attack the students.
After letting the boys limp body fall to the floor, looking slightly flustered from the fight but also cocky at her success Kate looked over at Dean and declared, "See? Simple."
Her celebration was short lived however as a fourth wolf that had remained hidden until now, launched itself from behind a corner, took the significantly smaller girl down to the floor, and sank its teeth into her shoulder, close to the base of her neck.
"NO!" The brothers yelled in tandem.
The scream she released was one of the most gut wrenching things either brother had ever heard, Dean reacted with incredible speed and immediately sent a bullet deep into the beasts back and heart, he released a quiet gasp of pain before collapsing forward on top of Kate causing her to utter a groan of pain.
Sam and Dean covered the distance to their fallen sister in a matter of seconds, lifting the bulky body of the dead wolf off their sister and dumping him to the side; both boys fell to their knees beside her and Dean gave a sympathetic look to Kate as she held her bitten neck and released small, gasping breaths.
Slowly grasping her hands, Sam grimaced and moved them down to her sides so they could inspect the wound.
"Is- is it bad?" Kate managed to get out in a few stuttering breaths as the brothers looked at each other in concern.
"Not at all baby girl, it's just a scratch. Nothing we can't handle." Dean replies in a soothing tone and giving her a soft smile, his pale face and use of her nick-name, however, gave away his anxiousness and the fact that he was lying.
Realising there was nothing they could do for her here, needing to get back to the motel they were staying at, Sam scooped his baby sister into his arms bridal style and instructed her to keep pressure on the bite to try and stop the bleeding.
And so the three Winchesters, Dean in the driver seat and Kate laying across the back with her head in Sam's lap as he ran his hands through her hair; sped off towards their current living quarters.
The constant terrible luck that plagued the family over the years had caused them to never be overly religious, however in that moment the older two of the three couldn't help but pray to whoever or whatever was out there to not take the light of their life away.
